Big game applications
Can someone one here help me out...I usually enter for Buck, Antelope, and an elk tag. The deal is is that its not enough hunting for me. What else could a put in for that I would have a shot at getting? I want to enter for an antlerless tag but dont have any idea which hunt I should apply for. I want a shot at drawing the tag, so which one should I apply for? Also is there any other buck hunts that I can apply for other than the standard end of september season? Someone please give me a little help here!
Thanks, Cameron

Re: Big game applications
If you are going to apply for an anterless hunt, just make sure that you have land to hunt beacause alot of those hunts are mostly, if not all, private land. Atleast that is how it is over here on this side of the state.

Re: Big game applications
Too late to apply for spring bear, but you still have general season bear, cougar, doe and cow hunts, coyotes, even turkeys! I love to hunt as much as possible too!

Re: Big game applications
If you go to Idaho make sure you have a wolf tag. It might be the only one you'd fill. ........

Re: Big game applications
We've been putting in for Maupin, West/East Biggs, Fossil or Columbia Basin doe tags for years now and have never found it hard to find property to hunt on. You will not find any private land in theses units to buck hunt on as most of it is leased out or kept in the family. But, with a little leg work and knocking on doors you can and will find people that will let you doe hunt. We have made some very good relationships with some of the farmer/ranchers in the different units that we can now go back to for our doe hunts but all it took was a little leg work up front. I would say just find a unit that you want to hunt in and apply. Once you draw you then have plenty of time to find a place to hunt before you purchase the tag in case it doesn't pan out.
