Default C-Man lends aid on the Clackamas

As crazy as it sounds, a wave runner decided to launch at Carver about 5:30 tonite. As the driver buried his Toyota pickup to the bumper C-Man kinda laughed at the seen.

Next, the driver leaves the cab and fires up the wave runner on the trailer. After a minute or so, he returns to the pickup cab to put on his swim trunks, just in case.

He leaves his pickup and trailer on the ramp with his approx. 6 year old daughter in the passenger seat. Now he boards his craft without any personal flotation device and leaves the ramp, truck and daughter behind. About 30 yards from the ramp he falls off totally immersed. C-Man thinks, thats gotta be cold and laughs while continuing to fish.

Now the rider is trying to get back on his craft, grabs the throttle and sends it into the rocks. C-Man is a little concerned, but still enjoying the show while fishing. Now the craft won't run, but the river will. As he passes under the Carver bridge without power, other than the current, C-Man becomes concerned enough to think about stopping fishing. As the dis-abled craft enters the faster current along the clay bank, the rider bails off and attemps to swim his craft to shore. Eventually he suceeds in getting to some rocks along the bank, but downriver from the boat ramp 300 yards, with no way to get back upriver.

Well, C-Man has seen enough and pulls up his gear and renders aid. He attaches a rope to the wave runner and ROWS it back to the ramp upstream. You are a stud C-Man

Anyways, good job Chris. It would have been hilarious if the rider had a P.F.D. on and he hadn't left his young daughter in a truck, on a boat ramp unsupervised.

Morale of the story....Use a P.F.D. and don't jet ski at Carver.

Oh yeah, the guy tells Chris as he is yelling for help, that it's his first time on a wave runner. No s---! Almost his last.

Hey BP,

I don't think allowing someone to die simply because they are ignorant is a very good approach.

C-man did the right thing, hats off to you, bro. Keep up the good work.

I'm sure the guy was thankful for the rescue. I hope c-man took advantage of the oppertunity to educate him in river ediquite. Most riders are just ignorant to the fact that their chosen recreation deminishes ours. There is a chance this guy may be respectful of fishermen because of this experience. Can you spell S-T-U-P-I-D times 2, first for the kid in the car alone and second fiest time on a jet ski in a river......DUH. Does anyone know if jet skis are against the law on the Clack, they are on the Sandy.
