Default Upriver Sturgeon

Just returned from five days of fishing above the Dalles. Fishing is slow but the keeper ratio is good and if you put your time in you can expect to bring home dinner. The shakers up there are more likely to be oversized rather than undersized fish. My largest was 7.5 ft. and the smallest fish caught was 44 in. We got blowed off Wed and Thurs but had some excellent weather early in the week.
The go to bait was Roll Mop Herring with a Scottish touch. A few fish were drawn in with pickled squid and I had one take a Salmon roe cocktail but they just couldn't refuse the doctored herring.
This fishery is almost over; I'm told the quota should be reached soon.
