Default What the....did you see that?

I was up a few miles from the Astoria bridge last week. We were anchored up and the tide was going out. We saw a few sealions coming
up river, then a few more, then about 20 or so were in view. There must have been a good number of fish that had come over the bar on the last tide change. Suddenly, fish were flying. The Lions were savagely shaking them and slapping them on the water once they had the fish in their grasp. My friends boat was
literally surrounded. Some were less than 10' from the stern and I had wondered if they
were going to get tangled in our gear. Two of the biggest males I have ever seen were actually jumping completely out of the river fighting either for fish or dominance.....or both. My friend thought that the biggest male
was pushing 400 pounds!! The boat that was anchored below us was surrounded also and well......lets just say that there were a few less cannonballs in their weight box This fish flying feeding frenzy continued for about 2o minutes that we could see. The sealions just kept following the school up river. I had never seen anything like that before even though I have seen plenty of sealions. My friend, who fishes that area religiously, said he has counted as many as 80 in that area. It was one of those strange
wildlife encounters that I'm sure many of you
have experienced while out fishing or hunting.

Alot of people say that they have as much right to destroy a run as we do. But, were still at the top of the food chain and I might be getting a taste for seal meat??? Tastes like chicken!

That whole scene you describe makes me ill.
