Default A death in the family

Yesterday marked the end of a long and very hard struggle for our family. My wife's father Robert Lewis lost his fight with the ravages of emphysema and passed away at 12:05 PM. Bob was a father to me the last 22 years that I've been married to his daughter and been a part of the Lewis family and I will miss his corney puns and the sound of his deep bartitone voice. He was my "Go to" guy with computer and automobile problems for many years. This is a picture of him and I at Cape Kiwanda after a little dory fishing. I almost had him talked into buying a dory but I think my mother-in-law stepped and he did'nt. I remember him calling me asking me to smoke some of his huge Chinook that he caught a few years later and when I went over to get a fillet he had this near 50lb. fish laid out on the picnic table and was like a little kid. He immediately went out and bought a rod and reel but never was able to match that again.Everyone was his friend and he would keep his family "cooling their heels" waiting while he chatted with perfect strangers about computers, sawmills airplanes or just about anything. It was a long standing family joke when someone would ask "Where is father?" My mother-in-law would say in her typical deadpan voice "Oh he's in there telling some stranger his life story"
Goodbye Bob I'll miss you
Thanks to all for indulging me and thanks for your prayers for our family

Shane:

Sorry for your loss. You told me last Saturday that you had hoped for an end to his suffering.

There is a better place that I believe in. Ill keep your "father" and family in my prayers.

Big Stew,
What a wonderful testament about your father in-law Bob. Who was a friend to everyone and that he will be deeply missed. My support always for you and yours will be in prayer, when ever you want.

God Bless

Bigstew,
Unfortunately I have never had the opportunity to personally meet you but you sound like a very nice person. You mentioned above that your father in law had never been able to match that 50lb'er, I have a feeling he's catching all he can handle now. Our condolences to you and your family and we will keep you in our prayers. Nice story.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my mother last Oct. to Emphasiyma, but remeber now he can breathe again and is no longer in any pain. He is waiting for you along side the best river ever, just waiting for his fishing partner. Remeber, he will be with you when ever you go to river, the ocean and anywhere else you may be thinking of him. Every time you talk about him he will be there. When you are on the river, just look up, he will be there. Don't be afraid to talk to him, he will listen. They always do.
Our condolences go out to you and your wife. You are in our prayers.

BIGSTEW,
I lost my father last year on Oct. 2nd
My dad was bigger than life to me. His last wish to me was to have his ashes dumped into our favorite steelhead fishing spot, Lower Monumental Dam on the Snake River. There was 3000 steelies a day going over Low Mo when I put my dads remains in. Everyone who was with said that while I was doing that, a ton of steelhead started rolling and jumping. My dad will always be with me while fishing there.
