Gloucester, MA. bound
Well fellow Salty Dog's and IFISHer's , looks like I'm heading for the Commanding Officer job at Coast Guard Station Gloucester, MA. The Perfect Storm. Sounds like my kind of place.
Keep you eyes open for a USCG Gloucester. I may be on the right side, but hey, fish'n is fish'n, and safety is safety no matter what side of the coast your on. I'll let my relief know what a great site this is and hopefully he'll pick up the USCG Depoe Bay call sign.

Congrats, you will be missed. But hey now you can give us up to date reports on the tuna and bill fishing on the Northeast coast.
Stay safe and stay in touch.

Re: Gloucester, MA. bound
Looks like departure time will be around the June time frame. Still a few months to go. Are there any East Coast Salty Dogs on the board? Posting? I guess I don't look at the location of most.

Re: Gloucester, MA. bound
Hey, we really appreciate the energy and enthusiasm you bring to the "job". I hope you're appreciated there as much as you are here! And it's good that Gloucester is another fishing port! Must be a big step up (we think you're very deserving of it!), Gloucester must be a lot bigger station than DB since it's a lot bigger port.
Thanks and Good luck

You might want to have a extra couch available once we find out the Swords are biting or the Duncan sized Bluefin are in.

I do believe Fastwater grew up cutting his teeth on the Giant Bluefin in the NE. Maybe he can chime in and let us know for sure.
Good Luck at the new post!

Man, that is a bummer for us. :frown: But they'll be getting one of the best.
Thanks for saving so many lives on our side of the planet. I guess we have to share with the other side too.
Good luck CO Sparkman. You'll be missed but perhaps we'll see you again another day.

Re: Gloucester, MA. bound
Sparky- I'm glad to hear you won't be leaving before this fishing season starts.
I'll stop in shortly to see you, but make sure you have room on your schedule for one last halibut trip with me! We'll send you packing to those left coasters with some more White GOLD!
Of course we'll try to get a pic where you don't look like you're struggling so much to hold up your bounty!
We'll miss you. 2 new CO's in 2 summers for the Central Coast. You'll be a tough replacement! When is your replacement set to arrive?

Re: Gloucester, MA. bound
Thanks everyone, right back at you all. You make the job easy. Once I get set up, I'll start looking around and seeing who is bring in the big blue's.
Nalu,
Sounds great. Struggling, huh! Just straining for the picture, you know, the hollywood shot My replacement is coming down from Juneua, AK. He is an avid hunter and fisherman. You might not find him too much on here, but you will find him on the water and in the woods....

Sparky, gonna miss ya Brau.
I'll never forget the day we met. Or the spirit and knowledge you brought to Depoe Bay. Or the young men and women you led and taught there.
Good luck and enjoy Gloucester. A place rich in history and fishing lore.
