Default Little North Santiam

I enjoy fishing small streams for native steelhead, and just got finished reading about Little North Santiam. Is it any good at this time of the year? I love to fly-fish these streams, but im a beginner in fly-fishing for steelhead. If you have any info on any small streams that are good for steelhead right now, and specifically about the little north santiam. Also any techniques would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't fished the Little North Santiam for steelhead yet, but if it's anything like the North Santiam, it should have a relatively late run of wild winter steelhead. In fact, it's more like spring steelhead than winter steelhead. It should be okay about now, probably through April. It certainly has a lot of really good fly water. Watch out for private land! There are some good county parks, but the gates are closed on them.

The main stem North Santiam has fish below the stayton bridge. Nice riffles down stream from there and easy place to cast your fly pole. The North fork Santiam has Nates up above the cement bridge. An ol' highschool fishin buddy has been baggin em' out of Elkhorn park. Use you polaroized and stand up top and you can see them in the water. As for as the next day or two it will be a blind fishing type of deal because of your rain. The little North fork clears quick.
