Ocean Salmon Public Meeting

Just a reminder:

ACTION NOTICE: The Oregon Coastal Zone Management Association and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will host their annual "Ocean Salmon Industry Group" meeting from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the Hallmark Resort Hotel, 744 SW Elizabeth St., Newport. This meeting will review the 2006 season, provide 2007 forecasts of abundance of salmon stocks, review current issues related to salmon management, and be used to develop a set of ocean salmon regulation proposals for ODFW staff to take forward to the Pacific Fishery Management Council. Ocean anglers, commercial salmon troll fishers, and others interested in participating in the development of ocean salmon fishery regulations for the 2007 season are encouraged to attend this meeting.

Hope that some of you will be able to make the meeting. There will be plenty of season options to discuss for the recreational as well as the commercial.

CK, thanks for the notice! I might be able to make it to the meeting. I sure hope the news is better for everyone this year. The commercial guys really had it tough last year.

I wish I could make it but I just can't.

If anyone attends I'd sure love a copy of the handouts.

Or if they are available anywhere electronically Eric, if you could point me in that direction that would be awesome?

Frustrating, the weather forecast calls for about a foot of snow in the coast range tonight. I'll have to check the road reports in the morning, I hope they will be cleared early. DOT will be busy.

So many hobbies, so little time....

I'm heading up cougar hunting tomorrow, taking advantage of the new snow. I had already planned the trip before I saw this post. Naturally I have some mixed emotions, but let's see.... sitting in a meeting or edging silently through the snowy outback. Tough decision.

Skein - who really doesn't have an "off" season.
