Default shrimp video taken off for the VERY few...

K, so for you 'sentimentally ignorant' folks out there. Everything was cleaned up after we did that,
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! wow. Not flamin' ya Stevo... just think you're being a little overly sensitive.

and the dog reference?.. Not sure where that one came from~ I take it you're upset that there were "innocent shrimp being killed for no reason".
Ever throw some in the river when you were done? or? do you raise them and let them live until your next trip, a couple weeks later?...so as not to kill them...

Some people just LOOK for something to argue about. We disposed of our sandshrimp the way we chose to. AND.... cleaned up our polystyrene box. If that's the case, how about spending more time trying to get those off the shelves, rather than this.

Just saying, Relax
I think its time to settle down and dance the jig

sounds like y'all need to, as well~

Gotta say I find that rather uncool. First off that's gotta spray the polystyrene box all over the place, like the ones the "hillbillys" leave on the banks of our rivers. Second just because they are only sand shrimp does not mean that killing them should be sport, killing them as bait is one thing, but for enjoyment is another.
Flame me if you wish, I don't care.

I'm with you Stevo. I realize it's nice to get out and shoot. But polystyrene stays on the earth well past our liftime.

I'm guessing from the context of the above posts, we missed something involving a polystyrene box, some sandshrimp and a shotgun. I just hope that the sandshrimp didn't have the shotgun!! If they did please let me know where you purchased them as I don't want to buy sandshrimp only to be held up on the riverbank when I open the container!!
Now, if said sandshrimp that have the shotgun are going to use the shotgun to improve my "catch ratio" by holding steelhead hostage per say, I'm all in !

okay..I've seen it...so, ....what happened?...a 3/4" circle of styro was blasted into oblivion, a dozen shrimp were left to leave their nutrients behind for some seedling, etc. And in the video none were missing an eye, limb, leg, tail...........

I've stumbled on bigger messes per acre from tree plants, and shell wads, to be whining over this video and the peta concerns for sandshrimp.

Get a rope..I mean leader, they're sandshrimp in the woods for the taking!

p.s...no shandshrimp were harmed in the making of this video...they were stunt doubles!

Okay, okay... I hope I don't get letter in the mail from PETA for this...or flamed too hard by the few on ifish that are a little too sensitive.

but.... here goes...

Yes, apparently we had a little too much time on our hands.

So theres people who were not impressed.
I happen to think mindless destruction with guns is irresponsible behavior myself. Were you under the influence of any sort of intoxicant that may have made shooting a foam carton of shrimp a little more entertaining than it really is ?

Heres what gets me. We have members of IFish who respond to the video in an unexpected way, and then the video is withdrawn from the site.

Obviously it wasnt to appease those who didnt like it, because you affectionately label them 'sentimentally ignorant' while the encourageable members such as Cool Texan who rarely waste an opportunity to taunt people with phrases like "Mambly Pambly Ifishers" further alienate those who didnt like your video.

Maybe the video didnt warrant deletion for any reason listed, but how "family friendly" is ripping off a few rounds into the woods on the side of the road? To insult those who were not entertained by it, allowing other members like CT an opportunity to jump on a bandwagon and then allow yourself to fold at his negative influence and put the video back on the board is pretty lame.

Nice job guys.

Sorry guy, not under any intoxicants. ...unless you include boredom!

...How'd I KNOW i'd hear from you!

Superfluke...you're right... its like the drunk piano player.. If I were so drunk I'd probably be seein double.. So i'd have two guns.. one for the each of ya!

and how 'family friendly' is a skinned cougar, as a prized catch? Sure i don't mind a bit!...but is that considered "family friendly"?..probably not..but it happens. Sorry you don't 'AGREE' with it.

Oh, and I'm not letting them influence me. I'm allowing them to let me understand that I wasn't doing anything wrong with "letting off a few rounds" on the side of a gravel road up in the middle of nowhere.

Look, Row, I'm sorry that you seem to have very little positive to say in your posts, and you enjoy starting contraversy. But I'm gonna go ahead and just ingore that, and enjoy just being entertaining and making my little videos. I'm sure other cinematographers have endured criticism, and perhaps I'm realizing I don't need to let it bother me.. Tarantino, etc.
If this was not ifish approved I'm sure it would've been deleted by the Mods, NOT me.

....I'm not sure what your SIGNATURE means, but it definitely portrays your attitude on this board.

For the other 98% of you that DON'T mind.. please enjoy!

SF....no kidding. If not this way then either dying in the river being thrown in, or eaten by fish, or thrown in trash. I think some people just have little else to do this evening but try to start yet another iFish fight over something that they really do not care about. Go figure.

A skinned cougar is the result of responsible use of a weapon. This is a hunting and fishing site isnt it?

You withdrew the video because of its reaction, then allowed people to influence you to put it back up ignoring how others felt about it. Shooting rounds off in the woods isnt a big deal, and I couldnt care less about the video, the shrimp, or the foam. But maybe some members dont want there kids to think its cool to do things like that when theyre "Bored" If your aspirations are to be the next Terentino, you might want to handle criticism a little better without insulting your critics when you respond to them. They wont like anything you do... ever.

I shoulda just stayed out of this but... the point is dude it's just wasteful. We all do, at least I do things that I wouldn't necessarily be proud to broadcast.
No It's not different that dropping them in the river when your done; in the grand scheme of things nothing is going to change one way or the other. But the point is perception. It makes us look like a bunch of idiots.

I have dispatched far, far too many living creatures for no reason. Am I proud of it? NO!! Do I still do it? yes.

We all do...well a lot of us do stupid things for fun, but a lot of what we do shouldn't be video taped.

Our type aren't the only people that view this stuff. Me personally I could care less what you did. It's not going to alter the world one way or the other. But...ya have to ask yourself, "is this going to help our sport"? Is this going to make people with far more value to "all" life than us get that warm fuzzy feeling? I would guess about 90 percent of the voting public are tree huggers. Why give them any more ammo??

Thank goodness

Man, I was waiting for somebody to point that out.....!!! How true, The only time(s) I will dispatch a fire arm is at a shooting range or with one shot to harvest a animal to feed my family.

But to shoot at containers or a non-prefab target is so irresponsible, and then to film it.....killing shrimp ? thats over the top...(shame on you SUB)

Yep, that was some pretty over the top stuff, game crimes, forest crimes, hate crimes, shrimp crimes, if this is what it really is all about ? Guys come on....the guy fired a 12 at a plasic tub, shrimp in, heck it could have been ranch dressing,.......

......I don't even know why I'm typin......

Oh, and a skinned cougar is a responsible use of weapon (should for this case be a firearm) This is a hunting and fishing website isnt it ?

You know, I will see things on the other boards and nobody ever even says a peep....and some of you seem to be concerned with the others, or outsiders seeing things here and giving you, or, me, or us a bad name....

Go over to the hunting board ant look at the recent tread "you dirty rat"
Kinda funny....none of the do gooders are over there ?

I don't know why...

Sorry to interrupt the little alpha male e-bonding session going on here but...

Rod. Dont waste your time putting me on the opposite side of the fence to suit your need to fraternize with the "boys with guns" club. I never stated there was anything remotely disturbing about some sand shrimp being shot out of a tree. My point (If you single out my post as my opinion rather than lump me in with your target group) is that taking the video off IFish due to complaints may not have been warranted, but to insult the people who found it objectionable or tasteless, and then put it back up was less than admirable.

So, you dont like that I feel discharging a firearm in that way (and then distributing a video of such that children have access to with catchy kid music) is irresponsible?
Trust me, I dont lose sleep over the differences between you and I.
I just think kids would be better off without that sort of influence. Maybe "irresponsible" was too strong a word.

I simply voiced my dissatisfaction that Sublime and Cool Texan (and now you) find some odd need to insult other members and/or belittle them with pathetic attempts of mocking humor because they simply find the video more tasteless than entertaining.

So, if any of you care to drop the Andrew Dice Clay routine for just a second and rebut with support for your opinion void of insulting demeaning mocking dialog, be a man and step up to the mic.

I dont care about the dang shrimp, I really didnt have anything to say about the video either. But I did express my dissatisfaction with two members who get some silly kick out of calling other identifiable members "sentimentally ignorant" "Mambly-Pamblys with their panties in a wad"
Its rude and uncalled for.

It might be worthy to note that Sublime and CT have a cheerleader posting in this thread that is 14 years old. Im not asking the impossible by asking anyone to set an example...just suggesting that they stop BEING one.

Ok, I think Sublime knows by now that he should have driven those poor sand shrimp to the ocean and released them unharmed. Wait, no, then someone would complain about his unecessary driving and how he is contriubuting to global warming.

I sure hope you guys weren't spitting sunflower seeds all over the forest when you guys were up there, or even worse, peanut shells.

So I didn't care about the shrimp or rat killing. What really offends me is golf.

Doesn't anyone get the e-mails from friends that have the stupid/funny homemade videos? I doubt that anybody deletes them without watching them and getting a good laugh. I never saw the video but i wouldn't mind seeing it!!!

I am offended that RvW was offended. What he did was not illegal or immoral, I just hope he didn't just tail out the sandshrimp, I think that's a waste of a crustation, and carries a penalty of death.

You folks need to get a life.

Anyone to has time to bash one another for HUMANELY disposing of sand shrimp has too much time on their hands and a negative attitude.

Sublime was only trying to share a funny video.

Think about it, you can dispose of a sand shrimp by dumping it into the river where it'll die from a slow death due to drowing, throw it on the bank where it'll rot to death, or blast them to death instantaneously with a 12 guage shell.

Could not agree more with my good friend Dylan (Zodiac) on this one. If you throw those shrimp in the water, they will suffocate since they cannot live in fresh water, but they can tolerate dry land for a limited time. In my opinion, disposing them quick to end thier suffering via 12 guage shotty lol was the most humaine method.

People need to get off of thier high horse on these forums. I am sure all of you were once young and did these types of things for good fun and laughs with friends. These types of events sure make great stories to tell when you age and can no longer do these things. Look, they did not use the gun in a unsafe fashion, they made sure everyone was clear, and then brian let the shrimp have it!

Down with PETA! For all you PETA lovers, you really need to watch the Penn and Teller's episode about PETA.

All hail Brian, the shrimp assasin!

Who said I was offended?

I was embarrassed to read the thread and see people mocked and ridiculed, flamed and called names because of their opinion of the video.

Forget how those people at the beginning of the thread feel about the video, consider how they might feel getting an entire thread dedicated to MOCKING their opinions. Theres members here who find it humorous to publicly demean others for their opinions rather than respect their point of view and move on.

Pretty pathetic.

Ill say it again so we're clear. I dont give a rats backside about the shrimp. Didnt express an opinion one way or the other. Im just sick and tired of seeing IFish members with an unpopular point of view become a source of entertainment for some immature members who have nothing better to do with their time than to go out of their way to make someone feel unwelcomed.
