Re: Ok how much maintenece do you do on your boots
Clean them and oil them as required, never use heat to dry them. I am wondering with all the boots that use cordorua (sp) if that mud can be pushed in to the gortex liner causing them to plug up like by brushing the boots of or even using water if that clogs gortex up..

Re: Ok how much maintenece do you do on your boots
I learned from my dad to use Huberds boot grease. It is the best that I have found. Here is a link to a site that tested several types and Huberds tested out the best. Better yet, it is made here in Oregon!

Google Huberds boot grease to find their site.

Re: Ok how much maintenece do you do on your boots
For my leather boots I always used Bear grease seems to keep them for a long time so long I wore the bottom right out of them. My new pair is Condura and I have had them for three years and have not done much but wash the mud off and let dry never had a problem rp

No greasy kids stuff for my boots and they have lasted for years.I have too many other things that require regular maint. If their lucky, they might get hosed off.

Re: Ok how much maintenece do you do on your boots
Daily while hunting I dry them out.
If im traveling in snow or heavy rain I brush them off and grease them with Obenauf's every evening.
After the season I usualy hit them up with some saddle soap and then a light oil and store till next year.
Obenauf's grease was my first choice for years but now on my lighter hiking type boots I use the Obenauf's oil.
The Obenauf's doesnt seem to hang in well with heavy snow and gets cleaned out of the leather. For this reason I usualy revert back to mink oil for heavy snow use. Mink oil doesnt let the leather breath though.
I shy away from the synthetic chemical stuff like Sno-seal.
My boots usualy last through a few soles or till my foot rubs through the Gortex liner. 3 to 5 years or 200 to 300 miles is about the average life span.

Red Wings - mink oil - on the boot dryer - I agree with them warm toes in the morn.
