Default Fishery 3/25

Spent yesterday fishing the columbia below bonneville. Fished for springers from sun up until about 10:00 at the shad rack. saw two hooked in surrounding boats, but slow overall. Decided to head down to Butlers Eddy for gators and it was keepers for everyone. The action was consistant, and we brought as many keepers to the boat as shakers. I also had Rippenlips attempt to use a new bait, and he hooked an oversize within five minutes of the bait being on the bottom. Fantastic sturgeon fishing. Now the state of the fishery is another thing. the only ramp currently open there is the upstream one, we got there early so put right in, but it was almost a half hour wait to pull out. The pot holes are also getting out of hand. They need to do something about the material condition of the place before it completely falls apart.

It's a much longer run (especially if the river is rough from the wind). But Rooster Rock has an excellent Boat Ramp. Dalton Point would be a good launch if they would put a dock in there.

RJ, the answer I heard was that the water is too low for the downstream ramp. We are at the end of the upstream ramp also, but the drop off wasn't that bad when I backed down it. Ooops, sorry rippenlips.
