Default Jig Heads

I am looking for some 1/4 - 3/8 oz jig heads without the lead collar and barb below the head. No problem, right? Well, I am trying to find ones that have a heavy wire 3/0 hook. (Big enough to handle a big nookie). Anyone got any ideas? Also, where can I get powder coating paint?

I found some like that at Tillamook Sporting Goods the lead collars are easy enough to remove. Did Jeff tell you about his first drift? he did great

The 1/4 jig head with a large 3/0 hook are very tough to find. Most of the jig manufacturers put the 3/0 on the 5/8 oz head. I have had a tough time finding 2/0 on a 1/4 oz head. To solve this I have two solutions...1 make your own jig heads by pouring them. The second is much easier. If you have ever seen the gamiebou style jigs you would see how they make there jig heads. They use a small nail through a brass bead then wrap the nail to the front of the hook. This has a added advantange opening up the hook gap even wider for a better bite. This adds some great options for the head weights on your jig hooks and which hooks you get to use on your jigs . Then you only need to find nails (which are easy) and the solid brass beads which most spinner component makers sell.

I'd go the make-your-own route. I've got access to a mold and pot, and make up a ton of them every year. I also use them off of the jetties, Once you buy the mold, you're set for life. Just use caution when melting that stuff

I don't think you want to mess with powder coating. (MESS is a good word) Go with a good epoxy or polyurethane enamel. Maybe some kind of auto-body touch up ? ?
