Cabelas Boise
Got back from Boise this evening. Had a chance to spend a few hours at Cabelas last night...wow. I feel bad for GI Joes, SW, and all the others if Cabelas comes to Oregon (as rumored), and to Lacey, WA (as planned). That store was amazing...not just the displays, the animals and birds, the gun library--but people at the counters who knew their stuff, friendly service. If any of you are in the market for a few new dekes--the cabela's real image mallard decoys look great compared to any of the G&H, GHG, or Herters--I'm getting at least 2doz of these. Handled the GHG full body mallard and pintails--the mallards, at least, are definitely a "go." Seeing the G&H pintails and widgeon next to GHG oversize pinnies and life size widgeon--definitely GHG. --BP

Re: Cabelas Boise
The gentleman I spoke with at Cabelas said they are still negotiating for Oregon--but apparently there is some internal debate within the company whether to locate on the west or eastside of the cascades.

Re: Cabelas Boise
Stopped by the Utah store last year - it is so big that they built it it's own freeway interchange. It was a Sunday morning and the place was jammin. (That's Sunday in Utah.)

Re: Cabelas Boise
Cabelas is a great store. I have been stopping at Cabelas since 1988 when they still had the old original store in Sidney. Although they have impressive new stores I still end up ordering from their catalog because the stores don't always carry everything. I still buy local ,Joe's, Sportsman's, etc., if the item is available but order on line if it isn't.

Re: Cabelas Boise
I could live with the store being in Central Oregon then I wouldn"t be broke all the time

They are coming to Post Falls Idaho this spring. Right next to Couer D'alene. About 7 hours drive from Portland area.

Re: Cabelas Boise
bp97211,
I've got a rather large order to fill from Cabela's and I'm close enough to Boise for a day trip. Sounds like that might make a fun afternoon anyways. My question is could one go to a Cabela' store and reasonably expect to find a high percentage of the stuff in the catalog(within reason). ???
Thanks!

Re: Cabelas Boise
I wouldn't assume that a store--especially Boise if it is in fact smaller compared to other stores--will have near everything in the catalog. One thing I noticed is that they didn't have any (except waders) of their waterfowling clothing on the floor. Kind of like other retailers rotate in and out their "seasonal" stuff, this Cabelas had rotated their waterfowling stuff off the floor. Also, at the Boise store, the clothing was weighted heavily--if not exclusively in some areas--toward cabelas own line, rather than competitors. It's still worth the trip to the store though to try stuff on and have it in hand, rather than order just to do that...
