Default Springer Hole?????

Hey, the wife and I just bought a house in Dundee and the Fire Cheif says there is a hole at the mouth of the Yamhill river that produces springers. Does anyone out there know anything about this. If so let me know since my drive time into portland just took a big jump. thanks in advance

Penn-

If you've been in the area for awhile, you might know me from (the now defunct) Fishing Unlimited in McMinnville.

In any case, there's definately a hole at the mouth of the Yamhill River, but it's known as a smallmouth hotspot. Springers might have been taken there in season, but I have hade the pleasure of speaking with scores of great fishermen over the years and no one has ever mentioned taking a chinook at that spot.

While it's not impossible, you might want to pack some gear for smallies as a backup option if you make the trip. I'd sure like to hear the details if you go, so post results or shoot me an Email.

There are some other areas that traditionally produce, but it'll be April 1st before we can fish the river above Willamette Falls. Yikes! It's almost here!

We'll know more when 'the regulars' hit the river this Sunday.

Best,

~Michael T.
