Default Coast storm pics- Depoe Hole

I never did get a chance to post these pics after one of the big storms this winter. Just found them now, so thought I'd post them up for fun.

First shot is looking out from the road leading up to my house. (No not FROM my house, I'm a block back) This is at Beverly Beach, half way between Depoe and Newport. All the offshore wash rocks are getting run over by breaking waves except Gull Rock.

This next pic is from out at Otter Crest looking south towards the Yaquina Lighthouse. Just to the right of the bird in the middle you can barely make out waves breaking all the way over the top of the wash rock. This is normally 10-15 feet above the top of the water.

This is the hole at Depoe.... Do I need to say more?

And the last shot is from the bridge looking down at the hole. This is when the bell was right out front. It is there, just sitting right behind the wave that is shooting up in the air.

Tuesday, driving back from the Salty Dogs Convocation the wife and I stopped at Depoe Bay to look at the waves...it was fairly rough, at least with big waves breaking and the blow hole almost throwing spray on the road. We couldn't believe the view down at the 'channel'. Man, it didn't look 12 feet wide. I wouldn't want to have to run out of there for a living!

Thanks again for a great convention. I'll probably stop saying thanks soon, but I really did have a good time. My supervisor is even thinking we (the Halibut Commission) should have more of a presence at sportsmen's shows, to 'get the word out' about who we are and what we do.
