My experience went like this: 1st Lab puppy some 12 yrs ago I went out and got all the goodies that go with new puppies..including the doggie toothbrush. It is now 13yrs later and 2 more labs including her and I have never used the toothbursh. Many trips to the vet and have only heard the comment from him that her teeth look great. Not sure if its because of the food they eat, genetics or what but I personally would not worry unless your vet says something about it. If you are concerned then make sure your vet checks or ask them to at routine visits. Just my

I bought a toothbrush a few years back but have never used it. I have the vet check his teeth at each check up and clean as necessary. Seems about every 2-3 years he needs a cleaning. He eats a lot of table scraps which is the cause of his frequent teeth cleaning needs. If you're feeding the dog table scraps I'd say use the tooth brush or be prepared for expensive cleanings. If it's eating dog food only I wouldn't worry about it.

Not my wifes dogs they get no scraps and have bad teeth they have had lots of them pulled out. Like I said they get no scraps and their favorite treat is carrots, man they hear a bag and they are running for the kitchen.

They are my wifes two schnousers

Schnousers typically have bad teeth. It's genetics, they will typically loose most of their front teeth as they get old. I don't know if brushing would help. Carrots have a high sugar content so if you're feeding them carrots often then they will have sugar stuck to their teeth often.

After laying out the cash to have two dogs' teeth cleaned, I picked up a brush. I should be better about it because it is nice for them to have decent doggie breath and better for their health.

My wife has been brushing the hounds teeth since they were pups. I havent noticed any big difference, other than nice doggie breath for a couple hours. Now if I can get her to do my teeth, too!

Fortunately for me, my dog (Golden Retriever 2yrs old) chews his nylabone 5 min every lunch and 10-15 mins before he beds down for the night.....I wish my teeth were as white as his. To be honest we all find it kinda of strange he does that every single night....always.

Wink Re: brushing your dogs teeth

Last year I got a dog from the pound. He had serious gum and teeth problems. After a $350 vet bill for cleaning his teeth and ears under anesthetic, I bought a brush that fits over my finger like a finger cot with some soft short bristles on one side and a dog tooth paste that "tastes like chicken", ( I really don't want to know if it does or not ), and he LOVES to get his teeth brushed! The last trip to the vet, they said, "he's was the poster dog for dental health."

Dogs teeth?? Heck, it’s a full time job just getting the kids to brush theirs. The dog would just go out side and continue to eat cat poo…at least he kids don’t do that!

Your dog has teeth? You must be one of those rich city slickers. . .
