Default Just say no!

I need some support .

I have a wife ,two kids ,a nice home , a boat , a camp trailer, and a great attitude.

I live a charmed life.
But lately I find myself obsessing about a new boat .
Yesterday I actually found myself drooling over a 23 ft. offshore Thunderjet...

I can not afford another boat now. !!!!
I really can not afford another boat right now !!!

So maybe Im asking the worng group here .(like asking heroin dealers , to help me stop heroin.)
But help me .
Convince me that Ill be OK. for a few more years till I can swindle my wife into another boat .

Since Rod sells boats He is not allowed to respond ,,, I will end up single ...... smelling of tuna and sitting in a 35 ft. Cabo.

I need two boats!!!! But not yet......

NO
No
No
You do not need another boat you only need the right boat
Sell what you have and go for the 35'
Maybe refi the house
sell the camp trailer as you won't need it with a 35'

oh and instead of refinancing the house ----sell the house too and move west young man and never look back

IdP I feel for you man.

It's not a boat you need brau it's a shorter trip to the ocean. You can get on any one of these boats, especially mine whenever the time is right for you.

OPB is a beautiful thing.

I agree. Move closer to justify your desire for a larger boat.

Here this will help..................

Sorry, just could not resist.

I think you said it yourself:

"I have a wife ,two kids ,a nice home , a boat , a camp trailer, and a great attitude.

I live a charmed life.
But lately I find myself obsessing about a new boat .
Yesterday I actually found myself drooling over a 23 ft. offshore Thunderjet...

I really can not afford another boat right now !!! "

Just move past it for now. If you were walking down the street and passed the most beautiful vulopitous woman you ever saw, sure you might do a little drooling, might even obsess over her a little, but you would get over it and life is still good. Kiss you wife, play with your kids and be glad you have some spare money to afford to take them out to eat or a movie now and then.

Repaeat after me:

I can not afford another boat now. !!!!
I really can not afford another boat right now !!! "

I can not afford another boat now. !!!!
I really can not afford another boat right now !!! "

I can not afford another boat now. !!!!
I really can not afford another boat right now !!! "

Just give the boat the cold shoulder...you know, the kind they teach at school?

*Cold Shoulder*

*Cold Shoulder*

*Cold Shoulder*

*Cold Shoulder*

*Cold Shoulder*

AND if that doesn't work, then put a tight rubber band around your wrist and snap it a couple times to cause pain and suffering when you look at the boat, cus if you don't...there's going to be a whole bunch of suffering...

Or better yet, put one big rubber band around your forehead...NOW that would work

Ohhaha, I'm a genius

IDP, just do what I did, sell the house, buy the boat, and promise the wife you will buy her a new house. It worked for me.

Getting on someone else's boat is a lot cheaper than owning your own! No! You do not need a second boat! Go out with someone you like and give him more than gas money. Give him some "buy a new something you need" money. You will never lack a ride if you treat the captain right.

Take your own advice and just say no. Your wife and kids are more important than your addiction.

Hey IDP, you have a great boat....wish I still had mine! 2 footitis is a BAD disease to get. I have Joey almost talked into the boat of choice and location of choice when she finishes school. I am thinking about the address above! For as far as you travel, that Hewes is a great choice, why ruin a great thing? Wait for retirement and move to the coast (or close) and get the boat you really want!
So much for logic, the hell with it, lets get matching 30 footers and moor them at Newport, side by side and in heaven! Of course the loss of love and family will be a little hard, but......
Love ya man and I share your pain!

Ed,
Hold on man! I will be back in approx 3 years! Already looking at boats and dreamin' about the seas and fishing. How does a 25' Parker WA sound? Maybe a 23' WA or sport cabin. I know that yo like the cold and wet, but that inside cabin is looking pretty good. I really like those Parkers
I look forward to getting out with you again. Lots of great memories

for the cost of fuel to tow an ocean boat from Idaho you will be able to take many paid trips with other ifishers/charters. I know it isn't the same thing as owning your own, but at some point the dollar $igns need to start talking.
Don't contract the same illness the rest of us already have. There is NO cure, only open water treatment that will palliate the symptoms for a while.

My advice to you is.... uh .... well .... errr.... mostly the same I gave Corrirod. You know, uh .... welll .... errr...

The toughest part is the distance. Nothing like squeezing together a few days to get salty, only to have it blow out while you're somewhere between Mountain Home and Prairie City. Too many times even a bigger boat can't solve that delimma (as we all know).

But never forget - if you can get here, you've got a ride. Guaranteed!

PS. Hey, Dave! We miss you man. I kept looking around at the convention, half expecting to see you and Joey smiling back at me. Come home soon!

IDP, it could be worse! you could have a new boat and be sitting here by the ocean wondering if your ever going to be able to use the hull shaped money pile or " how many coats of wax is ok before you just start adding weight?" All of the fishing magazines are aslo great for adding more $ to the pile that hasn't see water for 5 months. I believe it was in "05" in newport before light at the ramp when you came up and introduced yourself. You have a great boat and if I remember right you did rather well that day concidering the conditions. I think its more about the fisherman and his skills Vs. the size of his boat. Any way sorry to hear the disease has spread to Idaho! Good luck!

I am soooooo lucky! I have a wife who likes to fish and dig/rake clams. Likes the rv and camping too! I count my blessings daily.
My first mate bought me a scotty elec downrigger when I got my new boat last spring. Who do you think is first on my call list whenever I take the boat out?
Follow the sound advice. Be a mate on one of the dogs boats and help out a little extra, either cash and/or help with cleaning the boat, maintenance etc.

When I day dream about a bigger boat I make sure it is out of my range in reality. That way I don't get carried away.

Being stuck with a 35' Cabo Express is a good problem to have. And if your single, they seem to work excellent as chick magnets. Hehe

Chris, don't do it! A 23 footer isn't going to be a big enough upgrade. You'll be back shopping in another three years.

Here's the boat you need:

THANKS !
Great conversation.

Thanks for the invitations for rides .... I will take advantage of those .

Thanks for the words of wisdom,,, mostly wise dogs.

Last night I went out and sat in my boat for a good long time.
Made the shakes pass ...
I have a good boat that has done me well.
I dreamed of the hundreds of salmon I and my son have landed in her .
I remembered the days here on the lake.
I remembered the springers
I rembered the Halibut and ling and the TUNA.

I remembered that I do live a charmed life and to appreciate every second.

W.P. Miss you ... and I like your Idea best ..

You and me Bro... a couple big Ars boats ,,moored in Newport ,,, next to Popeye.
Nothing to do but RElax...
Hiho.
