Clackamas 3/24
Fished with C-Man on the Clackamas today. He insisted on rowing, which was fine with me. He is one of 2 people I would let row my boat. Anyway, after going to Riverside to drop the shuttle truck and to say hi to David Johnson as he was launching we headed to Carver.
We hooked 6, landed 3. We kept 2 nice summers and released a spawned hatchery. We were off the river by 1:30 P.M.
Thanks for rowing Chris, even though I did notice your rod was fishin in the prime water a lot.
Nice to meet you Dave Johnson.

Re: Clackamas 3/24
Thanks John. I should have had you go after all. Chris' friend never showed up, so we had another seat open. Another rod would have been even better. We have pictures (after they are developed), but I don't know how to post them. Marty from Steelheader.net posted the fish we got last weekend. I am just not that computer literate, and the instructions on this board start out in English and then switch to some other language. As you can see by the pictures, they a chrome summers. For some reason, Oregon Fish Chaser who caught his first steelhead that trip, has been thinking his was a spawned out buck. Oh well, I guess learning is part of the experience.

Re: Clackamas 3/24
LOL. We took a picture of the spawner we caught today to help in the learning experience. Plus it was nice colored fish for the camera.

The only reason I thought he was a late winter run was the way he tasted. He was bright and the meat was firm, but it the fillets were kind of bland.
Good job on your drift. It sounds like you two have that river dialed in.

Re: Clackamas 3/24
To my amazement a few years back I caught a nice bright hen that had already crapped her eggs out. Imagine that!! And this was the second week of Febuary. Bright, Bright. no color.
Another hatchery clone spawning in the wild. What control the state has.

Re: Clackamas 3/24
Hi Aron,
No problem. We are just razzing you. After spending the day with us clowns, you should know that. As I told you, I rarely keep fish, but my neighbors who always see me cleaning my boat, said either I am a terrible fisherman, or just never offer them any of the fish I catch. I kept one for them yesterday, and it was a summer hen. Very immature eggs, chrome bright and hard fighting. We did release a beautiful spawned hen, which we photograghed. I will include a picture of it with the ones of you and your fish. By the way, Marty from Steelheader.net posted you picture a few threads back. I couldn't figure it out.
Did not fish today, instead I chose to have my 18 year old and his buddies school me in hoops down at the gym. Getting old hurts. At least I still think I can beat my 14 year old. Now I know why I fish.

Re: Clackamas 3/24
Oregon Fish Chaser - How did you cook that thing? Bland....Maybe you guys kept a whitefish and thought that it was a Steelhead? I would think that the C-Man could tell the difference.
Try this on your next Steelhead it is sure to please...Take a 1/2 cup butter and pour in enough worcestershire sauce in to produce a dark brown color. Skin the filet and place on a broiling pan. Baste the up side and sprinkle dehydrated onions on top. When the onions are brown turn over and repeat. The fish will be tender and tasty!

The C-Man thought it was a sturgeon.

Re: Clackamas 3/24
Actually he thought it was a trout, but I don't blame him. He came up without a fight until I handed the rod off to Troy. As soon as he knew that Troy wasn't going to be doing the netting he started stripping off line
Thanks for the recipe Fubby. I'll have to try that next time

Re: Clackamas 3/24
That was funny that I thought it was trout... Best wrong guess ever!...
Fubby you are so informative, you must be a great fisherman,do you think we could fish together sometime?
Hey Spooled, I might be taking our "lady friend" fishing soon ... Can I borrow your boat? I promise to wipe the boat clean after I am through with "her" on the river! LOL
..... It's not easy catching so many fish....

Re: Clackamas 3/24
Hey C-Man, can't you read. This is a family site now, you can't post stuff like that. Now your gonna have the Ned Flander's Fishing Society all over you. You can use the boat, but tape over the "spooled" name if it is going to be more than a PG-13 trip. I don't need people thinking it's me. Not likely when I am such a handsome devil (can I use the word devil?) and, well you know, you are just average .
Did you see that Big ******' dude said Fubby lost another big fish? I think he needs an Ugly Stick
