Default Norton Partition Magic 8.0 and Norton Ghost?

Anyone ever use either of these? I got them when I bought Norton Internet Security 2007 as part of a set, and I'm simply not real sure what they do, why I need them, etc. Considering just selling them instead. Any thoughts??

Oh....and before the debate of whether NIS is any good and such (I've used the product for a few years now and like it), lets be clear about one thing:

Software bundle (NIS 07, PM 8.0, Ghost): $70
Bundle Rebate: -$50
Prior version owner rebate: -$20

Net Cost to CT: $0.00

With Ghost...You can make a quick backup of your system. you can create an "IMAGE" and put it on a CD or DVD. So if you hard drive crashes you have a current backup of your system. You can go directly to a Harddrive or a partition - Disk to Disk.

I have an extra hard drive that I try and do a Disk to Disk each month in case my system dies. I could just pop the Ghosted hard drive and my stuff would all be there...no rebuild or anything. I wouldn't have anything that was saved since the last time I ghosted thought...but its better than starting from scratch!

Good Luck!!

I use Ghost at work with an external hard drive for backup. I have it set up to update several times a day. Good piece of mind if you have lots of valuable information on your computer.

partition magic lets you re-partition a disk drive after you set it up the first time. Lets say you have a 250 gig drive and when you set it up you allocated 100gig to the C drive and 150gig to the D drive (don't worry we won't start talking about logical and physical - cause well it isn't a door knob). Now you've installed a bunch of hog games and your C drive is now full but the D drive has plenty of extra space that you are not using. Partition Magic can be used to increase the size of C from the unused space on D.

Hope that helps.

Ghost is a very powerful little program a couple of folks have mentioned using it for backups - I do the same thing. At work we setup a system with a standard software configuration, run a utility called Sysprep, then snap an image using ghost. We then send that image to whoever we are buying equipment from so that they can load that image on the machines when they are being built. That leaves the tech only having to turn on the system when they get it to install the software, write new SIDS and a bunch of real door knob kind of stuff. When you have 110,000 systems and replace about 1/4 of them every year you will get the picture.

So what you're saying is that I'll never use Partition Magic huh? Wonder what it would sell for on craigslist.
