Default Fred's Marina area report

Well...after hearing good reports of tons of fish being caught where the channel breaks off by Fred's Marina....I figured I'd take the Fishin Mission boat down there today...besides..after being the only one I saw last Sunday to hook (and then lose) a fish...I was on a vendetta. I've been experimenting with a mooching rig comprised of treble hooks instead of the singles, since losing that fish last Sunday really ****** me off. I was very pleased to find out that I could still get my killer roll on the herring with the 2-trebles, except my bait somewhat resembles a porcupine, and hooks me everywhere while I'm tying it up. Only problem today was that I counted about 60 boats, and only saw 3 hooked. Two were re-leasers, and the third happened to happen on my rod...yeah...with the double treble hook mooching rig, and the killer roll. Well...I'm tellin' ya...this was one HOT fish. I brawled the thing for a couple of minutes, started feeling pretty confident it was coming in, and finally got it to roll belly-up, and pull it up next to the boat for a "Net Job". Well... at the "critical" moment when the net should go into the water, my "guide" buddy says....."I don't wanna net it if we're gonna release it".....and the fish...about a 25 lber....not sure of the adipose situation at this point..... makes another run...and then comes UNDONE!!!! GEEMINY Can someone out there tell me why this kinda crap happens to ME??? Are the FISH GODS mad at me or what???

So sorry to hear todays adventure. I thought you'd foresure hookup. Maybe next time. Just up river from you today. After saying my prayers to the fish goddess (almost every hour) she allowed my rod a couple nice big pulls and that's it for today. Gave my friend a bad time about jumping up onto the rod side of the boat, i.e. moved the bait, master fish spooker, etc, etc. Say hi to the Mrs. and keep your line REALLY tight.
