Default Smelt Directions:

I would like to dip for smelt in the Cowlitz when they are in thick and am wondering if anybody is willing to give me directions on where to go. I am coming from Junction City and Do not know where to begin. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks DM

Going North on I-5 take the first Longveiw exit and go about 3 miles to the Industrial road exit. Turn right on Industrial road and continue north until you get to the Kelso bridge. You'll see the cars parked along the road when the smelt are in.

less complicated is go one more exit north to KELSO. exit freeway and take a left heading west. continue west 1 mile maybe and cross bridge(cowlitz river) hang a hard left on other side of bridge. you are now in the best 2 miles for dipping. park along the river and dip!!!
