Default North Santiam/Mehama

So........ the wife wants to visit the inlaws (who live in Mehamma)this weekend.
I would rather check out the N.Santiam while we are there.
Having never fished this river, any tips, techs, or info would be greatly appreciated. Just something that might turn the tide and make it a fun day for my nine year old boy and me.
No boat-the wife says that would be considered a little on the rude end, so it will be bank fishing only.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Been a few years since I fished the N. Santiam much but there is a lot of good bank fishing from John Neal Park in Lyons down to the bridge at Mehama. Still early for summers or chinooks that high up but I know of winters being caught in the mehama area. Remember all wild steelhead must be released.
