Default Morel Hunters

I'm getting fired up about the morels. But I must ask, how long after a burn does it take for morels to grow in the area? I have a fresh burn area I'd like to check this spring but not sure if it has had time to recover from the fire. And info would be appreciated. BB

The best harvest will be the one that immidiatly follows the fire. If they burned last fall then this spring will be prime and each consecutive year will be less.

Now where is this burn you are talking about....? PM me and I will go with you. Not till March though. Usually after the first couple nice sunny days in the spring. I love those things.

BTW... It isn't necessarily the best place to look. I know places that produce well year after year that have never been burned. But
Burnt areas are great places to start. With any mushrooms I generally look for a good area and start walking. Rarely do I go more than a half mile before I find enough Shrooms to satisfy me.

Thanks. Back in Appalachia, we would never look for morels in places like out here. Back east, they are mostly in poplar forests and in undisturbed soil.
