Sandy River !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got a good report from a very reliable buddy saying the Sandy River is puting out both springers and steelhead. The water was off color, but producing. He fished from Dabney down and landed 2 springers, landed 1 steelhead, and lost a couple others. Says pressure has been light! I imagine the Sandy should have perfect water conditions today or on Saturday.

Re: Sandy River !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big ******,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner with my response but I just got back on line from yesterday. Please send me an e-mail (see my profile), I would like to talk with you about your report on thr Sandy. I fish this river almost exclusively for springers and know most of the regulars out there. The people I get my reports from are all out of town on vacation and I was wondering who your source was for your report. I've been keeping a very close eye on the river waiting for things to take off, anyway please e-mail me so we can talk fish further.

Re: Sandy River !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fubby lost another hooked fish. He didn't mention that to me. Heck, I have no chance of knocking them off with the net if he can't get 'em to the boat . Maybe he should use one of them Ugly Sticks he makes fun of. At least they get them to the boat .

Re: Sandy River !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bigstew. Are we netting natives? NO! Why are you asking that. C-Man, Fubby and I have hooked about 20 fish on our last 3 trips and not 1 was a native. Of course not all of the fish made it to the boat, but those that did were all hatchery. C-Man and I released hatchery fish last Saturday. You seem to imply in some of your posts that anyone who catches a lot of fish must be up to no good.
I recently took Oregon Fish Chaser on a float. I had never met him, but he replied to a post on IFISH and we went fishing. Ask him if we netted or caught any natives, he can vouch for us.
If you want to fish with us sometime, I would enjoy the company. Sorry if I seem to take offense to your post, but I have kept only 2 fish this year, 1 for the lady that cuts my hair and one for my neighbor. I usually release hatchery fish much to the dismay of others. I just like catching them, and they are much easier to release without a net. I will allow anyone who wants to keep a hatchery fish on my boat to do so, as O.F.C. did, and yes we do use a net on them.

Not only are they netting them, but they are deep hooking them
They're the scourge of the Clackamas and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near Oregon City!
Just kidding. Actually they are a very competant bunch. I learned a lot on my float. We're kidding around about the net because Spooled knocked the first fish of the day off with it but it didn't matter much. We ended up hooking into 5 fish on that float, and I got to tag my first steelhead.

Re: Sandy River !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big Pimple you are a funny guy...I don't remember you being able to get up to hook up that fish or hand me the rod. However, I do remember the fish screaming down river and you dropping the anchor. What was that about? Did you expect the fish to swim up to the boat?
You win some and lose some. I lost that one. But at least you did not get the chance to knock it off with the net

Yeah I would agree with you Fubby, knocking off a fish with the net is alot worst than just losing the fish on your own!

Re: Sandy River !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fished the Sandy at oxbow this morning. The river is up to maximum fishing height,11'6". Had one hookup that was way to brief. Only about 4 people fishing the park today. Tried sand shrimp, bobber&jigs, and steelies.

Re: Sandy River !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Light Pressure ?
Sunday I counted 26 drift boats and 17 sleds on the Sandy between Dabney & Lewis & Clark.
One Bankie had a fish. The usual 6-7lb Summer.
This was after a lousy day of fishing on Saturday.I have not floated/jetboated the Sandy on a Sunday in at least 10 years.I knew the fishing would be poor as I live about 2 minutes from the river.
Is this light pressure ? I did sort of make up for Sunday today as we boated 4 springers. Not in the Sandy.

Re: Sandy River !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ssteelheadsteve,
Sunday was just your typical weekend day out fishing on the river. Not "light" by any means.
Drove by the Sandy again on the way home from work, nice brown color.

Nice job on those Springers!
