Default Salmon fishing trip

So I'm planning to go down to Nehalem Bay and Tillamook Bay mid August in hopes of salmon fishing. I'm looking for input on whether it is too early to target salmon. Any input?
Thanks in advance
AoR

Nehalem will be putting out fish, might be a little early for Tillamook but there will be some nosing around.

I have done well at Nehalem in August. Early for Tilly. Cut plug herring is the ticket. Have done well with flashers or no flashers. Fish them straight out of the package with a squirt of WD40 on em. These are hot fish. You can fish the jetty or I have done really well from Wheeler to Karr's Dock. Fun fishery. Best to get up early on an incoming tide.

I've had good luck with both CPH and spinners, both with flashers or without. Tide change always seems to be the most productive..of course! Fishing the jetty on incoming tide get's pretty busy, but a lot of fun.
