Motorola Razr phone
Anyone use the Motorola Razr V3m phone with Verizon service? I'm curious how the reception is around the area. I've heard a few people say they don't get as well of coverage with the internal antenna. But then again I get people saying they haven't had any problems.
My wife and I are looking at upgrading our phones and since they are running them at buy one at $49.99 and get one free deal. But I don't want to buy them have be dropping calls. This deal ends on the 19th.
Thanks!

Re: Motorola Razr phone
I've had better coverage with my Razr on Verizon than my old Sprint phone - I always thought the commercials were corny, but I'm sold and glad I made the switch. Even outlying areas like for instance I got a call when I was going by Odell lake - I was shocked to say the least that the phone even rang let alone carry on a conversation. Tillamook without having to go analog was great as well - hope that helps

Re: Motorola Razr phone
I have a Razr, though with Cingular. That said, I've had it for almost 2 years now....and even back then, it was free. I couldnt imagine paying $50 for any phone, let alone a phone that is no longer the new hot thing in cell phones.

Re: Motorola Razr phone
That does help, thanks StickFish. A few of my friends have them but with other carriers.

Re: Motorola Razr phone
My kid has one from T Moble and he has a problem getting the ring to be loud enough to hear I have not looked at it but that is what he told me.

Reel Big.... case in point, go to Amazon and look at that same phone. Get it with a new contract and your phone will cost you -$50. Yes...you get the phone PLUS $50 back. Not sure why you'd pay for one when they will pay YOU for one.

Re: Motorola Razr phone
Just a tip, if the phone is a tri mode phone, you will get better reception in the woods so to speak. It's a safety thing.

You'll have to donate 10% to Ifish so you'll be out a total of 11 bucks.

If you buy a Razr, buy it at Costco so you can return/exchange it. I went through 2 Razr's in a year before I finally found a good one. My wife on the other hand has had zero problems with hers. And no, I'm not abusive with my phones. The first phone was possessed, you would hit a button and it would start scrolling through all the screens. The second phone would not hold a charge.
Anyway, if you buy any phone, buy it at Costco!! They have a great no questions asked return policy.

I have had mine for a year, Verizon service. No complaints and no problems.

Re: Motorola Razr phone
I'm going on a year with mine, but with Cingular. Not sure if it's the phone or the "service" - but I'm not in love with it. More likely than not, it isn't the phone's fault.

I doubt it's the phone...I was stuck with Cingular for two years on a company plan. I tried 4 different phones and the coverage was just horrible with all of them. I would literally drop 5-7 calls a day. Now, I am a salesrep and spend all day driving the whole metro area so I am exposed to all the bad places all the time.
My company just switched to Verizon and I only drop maybe one call a day and that is out here in the sticks between Canby and Molalla. Additionally, the calls that I am on are much clearer.
So, I really liked the functionality of the Razr, but combined with Cingular just did not work for me. YVMV

Re: Motorola Razr phone
I have a Razr and Verizon. I switched from Cingular because I was having reception problems. I have no complaints with the service or phone from Verizon. I find that even though the razr shows only 1 bar sometimes I still have good reception. I didn't have that with Cingular.

Re: Motorola Razr phone
My RAZR is the best phone I've ever had.
I've dropped it on concrete more times than I can remember, had it covered with fishslime, spilled beer on it, left it in the sun, etc. After 3 years I finally had to buy a new battery, now it's almost good as new.
