Default St. Helens area Springers

Fished all day Sunday 3/ 18 . Tried below Warrior Rock early am... nothin'; mouth of the channel... nothin'; worked over below the marina, marked fish in the "Sammy zone " but no takers ... nothin'. Fished bottom end of Sand Is. for awhile... nothin'. Anchored -up on the outside of the Is. for awhile... nothin'. Tried below #77 marker or a short period... nothin'. Went back up to the channel outlet... nothin' .

Any of you guys see something I missed while I was movin' around ?
No shortage of pinnipeds in the area this year. PINNIPEDS - O - PLENTY!

I know of two boats that fished downstream of Wauna and reported seeing - and getting in on - 6 fish for 7 boats and 8 fish for 5 boats in each of their locations. Movin' up!

Was watching the seals myself down around Westport this weekend, seen one lion with a salmon or steelhead, but most had smelt in their mouth. Now if we could just get them to eat a LOT more of them, these fish just might get hungry!

The ones I noticed the last two Sundays seemed to working the same areas as the gulls. The smelt might be distracting those "flippered devils" but It 's distracting the 'nooks too. Lets see, fresh smelt or hungry springers...enough with the smelt.

This situation of good smelt, steelhead, and hopeful springers returns has not combined at one time in a few years ...has it?
