Default Hood River sturgeon

Did a little casual family fishing up in Bonneville pool. 20 or so shakers and two keepers in about 6 hours of fishing for the 5 of us. Most shakers were between 35 and 41 inches. A friends boat was up here also and had two keeps. Noticed the Sandy was running pretty dirty. Also there was a slew of boats in front of horsetail falls.

I should have gone up there too! Or below the John Day. We fished off of Cape Horn and clear up to the dam(n) with only 2 legitimate bites. Our only biters came on sandshrimp or a smelt/sandshrimp sandwich. Lots of smelt floaters and some barely swimming. At first we thought somebody was dumping bait until we saw the swimmers. A seal was there to keep the boats company too. From another post, looks like we may have missed the optimum time with the tide. Figures, story of my life.

How was the weather up there? We got purty wet Sunday afternoon.

It sprinkled on and off all day, started raining pretty hard when we left at 2:30. Flat as a pancake all day however. My friend in another boat mentioned that a fish he caught coughed up a smelt. Didn't know if it was someones bait or not, but we did notice more seagulls than normal and also saw more sturgeon surfacing up there than i've ever seen before. Did the smelt go over the dam??
