Default apology for combatative title of last post

Superbowl viewing excesses might have something to do with the title of my last post concerning clearcutting and its effect on salmon. But that is not an excuse.
What I had hoped to was get some responses on what exactly the relationship between logging, water temperature and fish mortality. The post did result in many well thought out, informed ideas on the subject. I now have a better understanding of the subject thanks to the posts. Thank all that participated for their input.
However, this is not an excuse for posting such a confrontational statement as the title, and for this I apologize. It will not happen again.

I agree with You on Clear Cuts and water temp. In early 80's I fish NF Nehalen alot. In summer ther was always adiquit flows and cool temps. After the clear cutting above river , The water temps and water clarity suffered greatly. ...
Everyone that Fished Wilson 20 yrs ago knows river use to take a day to blow out and 4 days to drop after a heavy rain, Now river blows out imediatly and drops in 2 days. The trees holding and releasing water in a buffered way as well as keeping solar rays of the ground. Does this effect water quality. How can you not believe it doesn't ?
I think the buffer zones between creeks and river need to be larger from logging. That even small feeder creeks need this same buffering. Cut Throat use the very top water sheeds to spawn.

Anyways you didn't upset me. I think we all need to do our part to help maintain heathy runs.

nets , river quality , logging ,dams, harvest. It has to be a balance for everyone and all users .

replying to yahoee
the upper n. fork was logged from 1965 1999 during this time the average temp actually dropped 2 degrees average for the year for this time ,i was surprised by this myself.
logging during this time was fast coming under some very close scrutiney by a lot of locals that worked on these jobs. alot of whistle blowing went on and still does.
in those days we could only fish the so. fork at 4.6
we now fish it at 8.0ft
during this time the n. fork had to be below 50 inches to clear up. we now fish it at 60 inches
the no. of fish has increased over the years and continues to increas.
probably what i am trying to say is ;the laws have been here for years to protect the rivers the problem has been compliace .
if every river had a watch dog group for each river we would have more n. forks

hustlerrjim,
You stated that:

Do you have any information on the summer monthly temperatures, vs. the yearly average? This would be the most critical times for salmon survival in the rivers. Thanks

Hello Jim ,

I've seen you raft bye me on the river many a time. You frequently would tell me to use something green as you drifted bye ;^) . I Heard stories you were Hazen Comerant's in bay to help the outward smolt migration. I'd run my friends sled along side you outside jaws. I have total respect for your knowledge of the NF . I just thought when that hill above falls was logged it did raise temps in late summer . When you could rest under trees and it was cool instead of burning you feet.
