Well...we counted 30 boats at the confluence of the channel and the Willamette. Only saw one fish hooked (MINE). Took a herring, brawled it for about a minute, and then lost it. I think I saw an adipose fin as it swam off (Just joking). Did get a look at it...maybe 15-16 lbs. The Fish and Wildlife guy said he worked Saturday at the Cathedral Park ramp...checked 39 boats....with 2 steelies and one springer. My bud also was fishing Kelley point for sturgeon, and said it was way slow. So there you go!! Next trip Thursday....or maybe Wednesday......

fished out of freds sunday. two boats, 5 rods, 0 fish. Maybe just as well, with the sewage "spill". Gamie reported 0 springers and 5 sturgeon for five sturgeon boats.

The sturgeon fishing will probably pickup in the Multnomah Channel/Kelly Point area. When the city releases sewage into the river it triggers the annual boneless brown trout run and the sturgeon feast on these tasty morsels until the spring rains wash the carcasses out of the river.

Tried sturgeon fishing yesterday (Sunday), launched from the ramp at the St John's bridge and used Sandy river smelt that was dipped by a friend on Saturday.

We fished a bit downstream from the bridge and were skunked during the morning, but in the afternoon it picked up and everyone landed at least a couple shakers. Had a couple in the 36-38"" range, and I had a 41" one.

The boat just downstream of us was also hooking fish well in the afternoon and landed a 49" keeper.

We also tried the T-6 area in the morning with a lot of other boats in the area, but didn't see many fish being caught.
