Man you gotta love EBAY
I have been selling LOTS of tackle on ebay from a auction that I "bought a little too much"
I have been shocked at all the stuff going over seas....Finland Ireland Iceland the UK Poland and some other countrys I did not know exsisted let alone had any fish.
When I retired I started buying more and more "stuff" at auctions (private and goverment) and selling on ebay.
I wish the charge from ebay was about 1/2 but it is still a wonderful resource.
I have bought things for 2.00 and sold them for 150.00 or more.....man you gotta love ebay......man I wish I had started it.
I have sold things that to me were complete junk but someone in Denmark had to have it.
If anyone ever needs help let me know EBAY becomes quite addictive for me.
Anybody else sell on there??
Paul

Re: Man you gotta love EBAY
just curious if you get taxed on your ebay sales if you make X amount of money during the year? Or if you have to have a business license if you bring in a certain amount?

Re: Man you gotta love EBAY
Because of what I do I have mine set up as a biz (I sell other places and have bought VERY expensive cars planes boats) so when you get into those dollars it is best to be legal.
I have a Tax ID number and do mine acordingly. I can also write off travel and gas ...the normal stuff.
I know lots of casual sellers that sell their own stuff and they just sell.
When I quit hobby selling I started doing it like any small biz would.

Re: Man you gotta love EBAY
Paul, I began "hobby selling" within the last few months. Started with going through the garage and storage areas. I can't believe what does and does not sell on Ebay. I could easily get into it to the point where you're at. It's kinda like dragging a lure through unknown waters - you never know what's going to bite and how hard.

Re: Man you gotta love EBAY
A pretty neat resource, Very nice of you to offer help to others EULACHON. My wife sells a lot of stuff on there, We just throw that in with our vacation money and it helps a bunch. Estate and garage sales are a great source for items to be sold. My uncle found a civil war journal in a free box, They told the person that it was valuable and they said they didn't want it so my uncle took it home. They had it appraised at over 2000.00 you just never know.

Re: Man you gotta love EBAY
So if you Sell something for someone Else do you take a commision ?
I have a rather Valuable Guitar I want to sell. It is a Custom hand made Archtop made by one of the top Luthier's in the world. Not a name most players would be familiar with but if you wanted to buy one it would cost $11,000 to have one made, then you would have to wait two years to take delivery. I know from the builder that there are only 75 in existance.
I gotta believe there's someone out there looking for my Guitar that is very willing to pay my price, but how do I find him or her ?
Meanwhile I don't mind playing it occasionally.

Re: Man you gotta love EBAY
I've bought a lot of reloading supplies on E-bay but not much else. You have to know what stuff is worth or you can end up buying for way over new prices.
My favorite quote about E-bay is: "Turn your trash into cash".

Re: Man you gotta love EBAY
I sell some on Ebay. The kids like to garage sale and if i see something that i think I can turn I buy it. My best to date is two old tube testers that were in mint condition. I paid $10 for the two and sold them for $450 each. I laso paid .50 for a book and sold it for $135. You really have to good nose for the value and demand for things otherwise you will be having a garage sale of your own. Lots of people doing it now as well.
