Default OMC bracket

Curious if anyone has had experience with an OMC trolling motor bracket loosing the cylinder in it. Mine is about 8 months old and the bracket worked fine when I parked it then 3 weeks later I took it out and the cylinder to help lift and lower the motor was completely shot! It is still under warranty if I can find a dealer to honor it. Just curious if anyone else had this problem and what the response was.

Also does anyone know what company did take over OMC and if they will honor the warranty? I don't really care about the warranty but would just like to get another cylinder. Thanks for the help.

DT: I had a cylinder go out on my OMC standard duty bracket. Cost me $80 to get a new one. Dealer said they will go out often if you have more than 80lbs on them. There is also a bushing rebuild kit for $5 so you can replace all the teflon washers in the piviot points. I ordered the heavy duty model with the new boat. Larger cylinder, hope it lasts.
