Default Any other uses for smelt?

Anyone ever use smelt for salmon or bottomfish bait? Been wondering if that would work. Heck herring does. I would imagine smelt would be a natural food source. After all its a small fishy in a BIG ocean. Something must eat them little buggers.

Hello Sinker, i have never used smelt for anything except sturgeon bait or to eat. I saw on an earlier post that ssome one had boated a springer that was full of the little buggers. The problem with trying to use them in the bi C is there are so many of them how does the salmon find yours?

OK, so ya get this long strip of plastic, bout 10 feet wide and 30' long. Lay it out on a flat spot in the lawn and then dump about 38 buckets of non refrigerated smelt on it, from end to end, milt, eggs, the whole works. Bango, you have a 'Smelt 'n Slide'.

Next, you get the buxom neighbor lady to come over and you bet her a fresh baked apple pie that you can slide further down this pisca-slide than she can...just wearing yer skivies...the trick is that she has to go first, cause you're going to measure and then.....

Whoa, what happened...think I'm watchin' a bit too much late night cable.
