Default refitting old troller

Am thinking about refiiting a wood troller. (I know I'm nuts) and wondered if anyone had any experience with boat yards that would help with the work. Would be hull and deck work with caulking, corking and fastenings. Location would either be Puget Sound or Astoria or Portland.

There was recently an article in Wooden Boat about this. The long and short of it was you never get resale value for what you put into it. People are doing this because they love the old boats. I think it is a great idea and would love to take on a project like this. If you can I would pick a yard close to where you live as you can save ALOT of money by doing the work yourself.

I've seen alot of old wood trollers out of the water in Ilwaco but I don't know if they are being worked on by the owners or the yard. Might be a less expensive yard ?

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress!!

A lot of good wooden boat work is being done in Port Townsend...I couldn't name a specific person/yard, but if you called the harbormaster, they'd steer you to someone.

You could use the yard in Ilwaco or the port of Astoria.Just ask at Englund marine, they can give you names of the guys that work on wood boats. You can do a lot of work at these yards yourself.
