Default Mt Hood Photo

This isn't fishing related but thought most of you would enjoy the photo anyway. My wife and I recently flew to Texas to visit our daughter, son-in-law and most importantly our first granddaughter who is eight months old.

Any way, the day we departed PDX (1/30/07) the weather was beautiful, just prior to take off I nudged Sue to get the camera out of the carry-on bag in case we were on the right side of the plane to view Mt. Hood. She was sitting in the window seat and continuously snapped photos as we passed the mountain. This is the one that I liked the best.

We were surprised too. The windows had the usual kid slobber and finger prints. It must be because the lens is so close to the window. I know now that I'll keep the camera handy while on the plane. With the granddaughter in Texas we'll be keeping American Airlines in business.

Also, the camera is just a consumer model Kodak digital not an expensive professional DSLR model.

Great shot from way up there. I have never been able to get clear shot that high up. All my shots of Mount Hood are from ground level...

Here are three of my favorites.

The first is taken from my mother's house in Vancouver at twilight. I really enjoyed creating this shot - lots of cloud cover had to be contrasted out. By saturating the colors and upping the contrast I pulled this shot out of a most-dismal 70-300 f5.6 I used to own.

The second is taken from the shore of Lake Trilium with a 17-40 wide angle zoom. The clouds kinda make up for the lake of foreground.

The last is an aerial shot on my way down to SoCal for a meeting, taken with a 100-400 lens

I'd have to say we were southeast of the mountain. We departed 9:00am and the first shots had most of the mountain in the shade and as we came around more sun was hitting all slopes.
