Do offenders live near you? Link
www.FamilyWatchDog.us
When you visit this site you can enter your address and a map will pop up with your house as a small icon of a house. There may be red, blue and green dots surrounding your entire neighborhood. When you click on these dots a picture of a criminal will appear with his or her home address and the description of the crime he or she has committed.
The best thing is that you can show your children these pictures and see how close these people live to your home or school.
This site was developed by John Walsh from Americas Most Wanted. This is another tool we can use to help us keep our kids safe.

Re: Do offenders live near you? Link
Thanks for the link. There are 4 within 1 1/2 miles of home, and 1 that is 1 block from work.

Re: Do offenders live near you? Link
It changes all the time - great two new ones in an apartment complex around the corner and down the street. Strange new panel van's been seen cruising as well. We have a Church family around the corner that treat their home as a half way house so we see some rather unusual folk every now and then. You should have seen the BI I ran on our Addy when I found out about that place

Re: Do offenders live near you? Link
COOL SITE! It's a relief finding out that there are actually none listed in Dayton! Closest offender listed for me is 2.5 miles away in Lafayette. Thanks for the link, I'll be checking it often!

Seven within a mile and there are 3 or 4 schools in the same area.
But to me the ones we don't know about are the scary ones.

Re: Do offenders live near you? Link
Don't be too complacent if it doesn't pull up anything near you. I ran two names of people I know to be sex offenders, one of whom is registered and whose name I can pull up on a county sex offender registry, the other who I know to have avoided registering and who has had a history of frequent moves to avoid registration and the consequences of not registering. I know these people to be sex offenders because of background checks revealing criminal convictions. Neither came up. Nor have they come up on other web sites that claim to show sex offenders living in your neighborhood. Just because nothing comes up, that doesn't mean none are near you. These sites will only pull up a fraction of the sex offenders out there. The most up to date information can be found through the county sheriff's office, and it won't show up if the person has failed to register.

Re: Do offenders live near you? Link
Now are those just the registered ones? We have a county jail in our town and they have a work release program. I sure hope that they don't let those ones out on the street. Thanks for the link. I will definatly be checking that one on a regular basis.

You're right. I should have been more specific and said that I am glad there are none very close listed on "that site". I know if I went and checked the county I would more than likely get a bit depressed!

Re: Do offenders live near you? Link
This is a subject very close to me...
I raised two daughters. There are a lot of creeps out there.
Lots of 21 year olds men and older that spend all there time looking for
troubled Girls to take advantage of. They follow patterns.
Nice cars, they offer things the girls need. It may be a father image, a best friend or they may act like an older brother.
A really good friend of mine that I grew up with is on the list. He is serving time in Alaska and I have seen his picture on the Alaska predator website.
It makes my skin Crawl. I didn't know it at the time that he was a sexual predator but once I found out it all fit together. These guys know the
physcology of children very well. They have a natural instinct for it.
They are very clever about lureing in young girls that have just reached puberty.
As far as I am concerned our laws aren't tough enough. Our law enforcement, Especially in Clackamas county is very inept at dealing with these creeps.
Your best bet is to love your Children, dedicate your time to them. Don't cause them any reason to stray. Most of all never neglect them. The streets are full of Creeps waiting to get their slimmy hands on them.
Thank you for this post.......
Note: I believe the predator list is only the tip of the Iceburg. There are many more out there that are never caught.

WOW
One of the students at the local community college is on there. I have even seen him outside at the smoking area.
Now how can he be registered at a college that has young girls and boys there. Im not getting that. Yikes, kind of scary!

Re: Do offenders live near you? Link
Now that I know where they are, all I need is a TAG.
I think they're over the counter, or do I have to apply?
I'll put them on the same list as the seals and the wolves. I just don't know what order on the list to put them in.

Re: Do offenders live near you? Link
I was surprised that there were not any within a mile of our place, but there are 2 within a block of my workplace, one I work with.

Re: Do offenders live near you? Link
"As far as I am concerned our laws aren't tough enough. Our law enforcement, Especially in Clackamas County is very inept at dealing with these creeps."
I agree that the laws are not tough enough but have to strongly disagree that Clackamas County is very inept in dealing with these creeps. Perhaps you missed this: http://www.kptv.com/video/10953806/index.html
Clackamas County Sheriff's Office co-sponsored this sting with Fox 12.
Although I do not work for CCSO, I did work with them on this sting and they are far from inept. You may have had a bad experience with them in the past that prompted you to use the word inept and I can understand that. We can never make all of the people happy all of the time.
This is a problem that is not going to go away. In my department (WCSO) there are 7 child abuse detectives, more than any other unit in the detectives division and we are swamped with cases.
Websites like these are helpful but you should not rely on them or allow them to give you a false sense of security should you be lucky enough to not have a sex offender living nearby. Most of the time, these offenders did not offend with someone who happened to live nearby. In most cases, an offender is not going to offend with a neighbor. Now I'm not saying that you should not be aware that you have an offender living nearby, I'm just saying that it is your responsibility to keep your own children safe. Know who they are hanging out with, know about their Internet activity and the list goes on and on. If nothing else, always remember this, the overwhelming majority of victims are molested by someone they knew.

Re: Do offenders live near you? Link
I beg to differ. I am coming from personal experience.
We have one of the listed Perverts up on another street near me. His house got burned down recently because the neighbors were unhappy. The country built him a new house.

Re: Do offenders live near you? Link
Good God! there are two of those SOBs within a block of the Woodland high and elementary schools. Why in the hell are they are allowing children to be put in harm's way . We don't have kids, but we really are concerned for those that do. I would like to state my true feelings of what we should to to these (for lack of a better term) people, but I know it would just get a mod upset. You get the idea
