Re: New to discussion board.
Thanks hey yall for the welcome.I think I will join the fishing alliance. It is true that it's time for some of us, who love the sport so much, to get involved and do what we can to help our cause. The bottom line for me is this; I dont know a single sport fisherman who wouldn't give up his or her favorite fishery, for a time, if they thought it absolutely necessary for the betterment of that particular fishery.I can't say that for any commercial fisherman that I can think of.I'm probably wrong on that and i'm sure i'll hear about it, but I believe it to be true. Thanks again.

New to discussion board.
Hello everyone, I am an avid trout and bass fisherman from WA., the Sumner area.It has been entertaining as well as informative reading your discussion board.I hope that in the future that I will be able to contribute some usefull information to the masses.I posted my first message a couple of weeks ago pertaining to rock salting soft smelt, and failed to illicit a response.I did try it however in Kalama, and it worked very well in preserving the smelt but the jury is still out on it's effect on the bait. We did poorly that weekend on smelt, there were millions in the river to compete with for the sturgeons affection.Talk at you later.

Re: New to discussion board.
CP welcome and good to see others with warmwater species knowledge. Don't let these guys ruffle your feathers about fishing for bass. You just let me know who's giving ya a hard time.....muh ha ha ha
Sometimes a response never comes, sometimes they do. No one responded to my netting legislation post from last week, but I got some really good information on my rainfall graph post that was posted within minutes of each other.
Remember, actions speak louder than words, so if you ever feel like you aren't contributing enough, just pick up a pen and write to the politicians......see the post down below about the Alaskan Halibut issue. Remember, fishermen are brothers by trade....sisters too, I guess

Re: New to discussion board.
Glad you joined us CPII. Jason's moniker is CP - so I figure a good abreviation for yours is CPII. That's 'see pea eye eye'. Not CP2. Or CPtoo. Heck, what do you like best for short? CP Inlet Isle is too long to write each time . .... Hey, do you fish Lake Chelan? I saw a cable TV show one time fishing with downriggers for landlocked salmon and big lackers on Chelan. Don't they have big 'bows and bass also? Dang big lake!!! - RT

Re: New to discussion board.
CP2 will be just fine. I tried to get the same letters as you up but I must be too stupid to figure it out.(11,ii,ll,II,??)Your right about Lake Chelan, it is huge.Unfortunately, all I know about it is what I have read, and a little first hand info from a buddy of mine who fished it for smallmouth a couple years back.I did inquire about fishing it two years ago for the derby and talked to the guy that ran the tackle shop in town. He was very helpful, and the scoop was to pull a hot spot flasher and cut plug herring just at the bottom of the shrimp balls on the graph for the chinook. The rainbow trout fishing can be very good with the extensive stocking that has been done in the last 10 years or so.But like you say, it is a big lake and because of that, can be really hit and miss. The lake is about a three hour drive for me, and I am spoiled to the point that if I'm driving that far, I want to catch fish.Well, I've gone on long enough and I wish I could have been more helpful. Thanks for the message. Bye

Re: New to discussion board.
Wewlcome aboard CP,I've spent a lot of time on Lake Chelan,it's awesome 53 miles long and around 1400 ft deep with makes it 3# in the U.S.
I've deer hunted the upper end along the Sawtooth ridge and spent a few days trolling for those Chinook and done well on the Kokes.....Os

Re: New to discussion board.
Hey Osprey, what kind of size were you getting in the kokanee.I've been considering a combo trip to Chelan for some time now, and would find it worthwile if I felt the kokanee fishing could keep me happy should I struggle with the chinook and Mackinaw. Thanks

Re: New to discussion board.
Welcome CP Inlet Isle, It does not matter what you fish for as long as you fish. I like it all, right down to settin on a bank and throwing a big old crawler out there to see what will happen. I cant swear to it but i would almost bet that most if not all the board members feel the same way." A FISHERMAN IS A FISHERMAN."

Re: New to discussion board.
Hi CpII. My parents live in Sumner - on Tapps Island. I visit them every few months and every once in awhile I see people fishing Lake Tapps. Have you ever fished it? I'd think it would be difficult once it gets warm because of all the water-skiiers and personal watercraft zipping around. My dad is an avid fly-fisherman and spends most of his time in the high lakes near our cabin in Twisp. He's never fished Tapps, but thinks he heard someone say it has Perch in it??? I'd be tempted to try it out some time since I'd guess it gets very little fishing pressure. What do you think?
