Default Where's the sturgeon this weekend?

Thinking of using some of the bait we dipped last weekend, and seeing if we can convert it to sturgeon this weekend.

Todays paper says that sturgeon fishing is excellent from Troutdale to Beacon Rock. I've also heard that some people have been catching keepers near T-6.

Where would you go it your were going out this weekend? (probably Sunday)

I had two trips last weekend 1 to the gorge and one to st johns area. on friday in the gorge we had great weather and caught alot of fish the closest we came to keepers is a 41 inch. on sat went to the willamette and before I had all four poles out we had a hookup that sent the reel screaming unfortunatly we didnt get a look at him, somehow he slipped the hook. but buy 9am we had 2 keepers tied up and also had a 41, 40, and the biggest shaker I have ever seen 40inches and about 35lbs, obviously the pig of the litter. think deep and bring squid.

Yes, please give some details!

I hate it when someone posts a good fishing report and just mentions the river without giving any details.

It is doubtful that there are many secret holes out there. Since others are probably fishing the same areas, why not at least share the good spots with fellow ifish.net members :-)

The most consistant has been the shenanigans hole on the willamette, but with the water temp comining up the fish are beginning to move around a bit. also with the abundance of smelt in the columbia they dont seem to be as hungry. use your electronics if you have finders with high enough resolution look for fish holding tight to the bottom in 70 to 80 feet of water. I have been moving around alot and have found fish in most locations with 70 foot depth or more. the bite seems to be better in the morning with the afternoons bite almost non-existant. places to look would be the 80ft hole just downstream from st johns, shenanigans, and any deep pockets between st. johns and the sellwood that you find.
