Default RT kicks steelie butt on Clackamas

We had a great day on the Clackamas river today or should I say our own Steve Hanson did. These two hatchery chromers were subdued by Steve while Jerry Shipe and I could only stand in awe. Jerry hooked and released a native...........sucker and I got buck fever as a fish took my bobber down. Jerry's digital camera did a better job but I can't quite figure out how to get them on the board yet. Anyway way to go Stevie boy

OK Os, so I caught my limit while most boats on the river got skunked yesterday, and you are just jealous . Nah, jk. Hey, like you said, even a blind squirl can find some nuts once and a while. But come on guys, those are legit. Shane's pick of them on a big rock worked, but Jerry tried to post his pic of me holding the 2 steelhead up and it wouldn't work. Maybe later? Anyway, the nice thing to me is that the Clack has been one of the few NW rivers to have a pretty good hatchery run this season. I find it ironic because it has been one of the worst winter steelie rivers in recent years! I've heard guide Dave Johnson has been doing real well there this season, including some boat limits. BTW, Jerry bought a fish scale at Wal-Mart, of all places hehehe. The 2 fresh hatchery fish weighed 9 and 7 pounds. Got some nice eggs, and the meat is great on both fish. Not bad in March for that river. On another note, the nate runs seem to be doing quite well region wide, which is a good thing. And, it's raining!!! - Steve

Ah ha - take that Os, Fobb, and Smiles! ... Go back up and look at Jerry's post - the pics finally came thru (thanks for saving me from the trout farm 'Stew and Jerry).

Just joking around like you nice dudes . Except for maybe Os; I don't think he knows the difference between a steelie and a smelt .

Roflmao..he saved you with the pic. Our late hatchery runs are done for the year. To catch a legit hatchery bright fish it needs to be one of your strays. Nates are going but we still need rain bad...its started right now!! So get out and wash your cars/trucks to keep it coming

Jerry might want to get that scale calibrated

Hey Marty, I think the Walmart scale was fine. You forget what a sizable backdrop I make. Your fish just look big because of the punny little backdrop that you make behind them .

Ya I think youre probably winning that war. Its all in good fun of course. Those are monsters compared to the fish I caught on Sunday. a whopping 18 inches...but talk about bright. Should have taken its picture so you could pick on me some... If I knew about these I would have....:P

BTW if your interested I will have some days off weekend after this one. Maybe I can find you a acorn before the season is over If we don't get any rain you can get jiggy with it.

Those sure are nice fish on the Clack. I have to ask RT, what does that box in the backdrop say. In the picture at the Carver boat ramp, there is a box behind you guys. Your legs are blocking most of it. All except for a section that spells out a very intersting word. Do you see it? Does that say "LIE" ??? What are the fish gods trying to tell us? Did you guys go to a trout farm and pick off some of their young'uns? You sure you got those fish on the Clack? Look kinda frozen to me....and are those gill net marks?
Kidding! Very seriously kidding! Great job, I'm green with envy. At any rate I hope to get up there very very soon. We'll see what damage I can do. You of course will do me the courtesy of fishing the holes after I do, right?

RT, after reading the "oh sure" posts, after your "proof" in pictures, I "just had" to request a clarification. Since I am a pretty big dude, and based on your clarification of size and perspectives in pictures and often the deception of ones perception of size does this mean the picture of my 16 pound steelhead is really a 25 pounder?

Hey BH, that is a Willie fish box behind us. Interesting split showing of the Willie boat name - "wil lie" hehe. ... And Os, excuse me for holding up yours and Dan's fish in the group Floatilla pic. I thought of it just in time to go grab them for the pic, trying to put them around 2 others guys. And see how nice of me to let Shane and Jerry hold up my feesh in the boatramp pic above . ... Hey Rick, if you say your fish ws 25 lbs. then by gosh it was 25 lbs.! Not .
