I'll put scent on most of my jigs. Usually I put a drop or two on the jig head. I've found that even if the feathers get scent on them, they will still work just fine. Once the jig gets wet, the feathers fluff back out. I used to think that the jigs were toast when they were matted due to scent being applied until one day I pulled one out of my vest pocket and tied it on. I caught a fish with it a few casts later. Now I keep all my jigs regardless of how matted the feathers are.

I like Pro cure's shrimp scent. I honestly don't think it matters to much.

smelly jelly on the jig head then you really wouldn't have to worry about the maribou becoming matted.

A buddy of mine does well with a piece of shrimp or prawn meat fileted out and put on the hook with the jig. Can't name any names of course.

Hey Smily,
When fishing a plain jig I have had good luck with just a small dab of shrimp oil or smelly jelly placed on the jig head.
When fishing with bait added to the jig, I like to apply the scent directly to the bait instead of the jig.
I agree with stlhdr, keep those matted feather jigs, they catch fish.
