Default Staying At The Edgewater In Seattle --- A Review

Sooz wanted to spend a couple of nights at a nice place in Seattle while we took in the Boat Show this past week. So I picked the Edgewater, a pricey but hopefully nice place right on the water.

Fairly nice room, but with a few shortcomings. The water temp in the shower never did reach HOT, and was marginally on the cool side no matter what time we showered. Super comfy beds. Really noisy train tracks right outside (there are nine trains during the night --- ask me how I know.....). And thank goodness we never did figure out how to order a movie ($28!!!).

Breakfasts were a high point. Excellent.

Dinners were an unknown, 'cause I can't bring myself to order a $48 steak. Oh, and a salad is extra.

Total cost for the room for two nights --- $562. That's $219 a night for the dumpster view room, then $34 for city tax, and $26 for parking. Per night. Ack!

Oh, and that's the discounted winter rate.

All in all a nice $120/night room for $282/night.

Pretty much what I have heard......I think the Beatles stayed there in the 60's.

We stay at the Mariott across the street and have been happy with that.

I have always wanted to do that. Since I am now a widower the desire is still there but no one to share it with.

That would be fun to do some time.

Now what I REALLY don't get with this is how they can charge you $26 for parking EACH NIGHT!! Don't you only have to park ONCE!!??? What did they do, change parking places and maybe wash it while they moved your car??!!

My stay a month ago required me to leave a hotel on Lake Union security gated garage, go down the street where they wanted $8 to park to eat at lakeside restaurant, I was too tired for the hassle, I just looked for Golden Arches and paid $5 and finished eating the meal in the traffic before I got back. My big night.
