Default Enough is enough

Dear folks at ifish,
I have had it with bashing.
It is time to do a little house keeping.
Ifish holds higher standards than what is happening here. I won't allow it to degrade like this, even if it means me moderating and deleting and censoring. Even if it means a loss in membership.
So be it.
Don't like it?
Go elsewhere.
Ifish is for helping others to learn to fish. It is for sharing reports, ideas, new approaches.
We, together, can gather ideas on how we can better our fisheries. We can create a bigger impact as a group who work together to create, maintain and increase a membership who share ideas and dreams such as the fish toss, dream casters. Worthwhile projects that help our rivers, and our sport.
Angie has asked me to delete her posts and her topics. I complied.
I am seriously disapointed in a select group of members.
Please, stay, if you believe that ifish is for the above reasons.
If you have different ideas, a different web site would be beneficial to you, and to www.ifish.net
Jen

RT is a volunteer on ifish and has contributed much research and fishing knowledge.
RT is just busy doing his book thang.

Did you fire me? It took me all night to come up with Pull Yall's Lips! LOL. Mult. Channel was slow again today. Julie hooked one this morning and had to let it go. Adipose intact. Hope some fin-clipped show up soon. Could not believe it though, hooked a FLOUNDER that far up in fresh water? Must have come up riding a Seal or something.

Those small "flatties" seem to be somewhat common around St Helens. I've heard of a couple guys that bank fish for them in the area using worms, and seen gulls trying to swollow them, quite amusing

Yea, Dog, always thought they were a saltonly deal. Too bad we can't (or I won't
I should say) eat the Walleye around Coon Island. Transit fish only in that strech of water. That's a shame if you think about it, until they fix the downtown drainage and sewer leaks. Saw a show on Oregon Field Guide on OPB that said that might not be for quite some time. Thanks for the scoop.

I'm pretty new to these bulletin boards and only participate on two of them. Ifish has been the best in terms of helpful comments and information. I realize that I am not a part of the local fishing culture, but regardless have been treated quite well and had great information sent to me by the membership. Don't know that I can offer much in the way of fishing or boating info from Idaho, but just as with all of you, I'll share whatever I have knowledge aboutwith the membership.
But, please don't let the humor and true jesting disappear....we need that in our lives almost as much as we need our girlfriends (my boat...as described by my wife to her friends)and FISH!!!!!

Jennie,

Thanks for putting an end to this. I have to agree with what you say about keeping this board a positive place to be. I believe, like RT, that the original post was done in jest and unfortunately some folks could not seem to pick up on that and had to get very hateful and personal in their responses.

I for one get enough negative crap at work(healthcare) and don't want to see it here.
I purposefully avoid the posts that start to get negative and would hope that others could have the maturity to do likewise. I was embarassed for Ifish, which I refer all of my friends to. I'm sooo glad you did, in my opinion, the right thing.

Cheers to you for a great site that I like to wake up to. Keep up the good work.

I remember about 20 years ago how my room mate and I were absolute pigs, and the sidewalk out front of our apartment showed the evidence: empty beer and liquor bottles, trash bags split with junk food (and bags) spilling out, and trash put out front on the wrong day. Finally, a neighbor had had enough and knocked on our door. "Gentlemen, if you wish to live in a slum please move there rather than try to create one on this street."

For the past couple of days, I thought about that story as our new neighbor decided to (re-)create a slum. This is the only polite steelhead/ salmon board that has both good content and good community. Jen, you do whatever you deem necessary to keep it that way.

Thanks for reeling in that out of control thread Jen. While reasonable humor is good, out of line bashing and name calling isn't. It only clutters things up with bothersome negativity and doesn't accomplish what the namecaller wanted anyway. Thanks to all of you for the nice comments about the rest of the BB and ifish. - Steve

Its too long to write it here.

But it scares the poop out of me. (sorry Jen) I mean scare the devil out of me.
Since I get several hundred email every day!

I will have to turn OFF my computer and start writing SNAIL mAIL again! eeeeeeks

Your letter is a hoax.
There will be no charge for e mail.... ever.

Your letter is a considered a virus in itself,as it spreads, due to fear, and wastes bandwidth on the internet.

Thanks Jen,

You are full of information. Lets stop this hoax stuff. I didn't like it anyway.

I won't be sending anything to anybody.

My good friend who sent it to me, I'm sure was unaware of this kind of stuff going around.

And I certainly did not mean to scare anybody. My advice is to check your sources first. And Jennie has good information about hoaxes. I had no idea! Thats why I was aking in the first place.

NOW I KNOW!

Hi Jen, Thats the reason I havent been on for awhile. The bashing was getting to be to much, so I felt it was time to give it a rest. I would also like to give you a thousand thumbs up for telling those who would trash this web site to find another road to hoe. Most of the fishers that I have conversed with seem to be a bunch of good natured folks. Its always one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch. Or maybe in this case a couple of bad apples. In closing, I think you do a great job with the help from RT and have the best site going BAR NONE. Keep up the good work...Fishhead Vic

Another good place for the bookmarks is Urban Legends. They've got a great chocolate chip cookie recipe that some guy bought from a kid looking to break the record for the number of greeting cards received by one person.
