Default Outboard Bearing Carrier

The bearing carrier on my outboard has chipped off pieces on it on the lip where the prop fits into. Will this affect anything or can I leave it until I can get money to replace it? The lower unit is still sealed from wwater and it does not rub against the prop.

If the lower unit is not leaking, I wouldnt worry at all about it. To replace the whole housing would be very expensive--wouldnt you rather get a new color fishfinder with your hard earned dinero? If it bothers you to look at the damaged area, either dont look at it, or use some scrap aluminum and jb weld to fill it in.

If it doesn't cavitate and you don't mind looking at it leave it alone. Or do what the last post recommended.

It does not bother me, I just didn't know if it was a bad thing. I will save my money for now until I notice a problem.
