Default Worth an hour drive to OC?

Might do some fishing tomorrow, was wondering how it's been near the falls/garbage hole for salmon/steelhead/sturgeon... TIA, Joe

Stay home and mow the lawn instead! Honestly, there's not much going on at OC. I'm not saying you couldn't get lucky and catch a fish, but I'd wait if I were you. Low water, little current, and not many fish. Give it another week or so and the fish should be there, but who knows about the water conditions. There's barely enough current to backtroll or backbounce in the garbage hole.

Good luck.

There were about 6 boats this morning below the falls (I left at 7:30) and I never saw a fish on. Yesterday I saw 1 native steelhead. It is really dead, but I will be backout for more punishment tomorrow, but only because it is a few minute drive for me.

Joe, about that advise yesterday, Lets hope you took it. Talked to a couple "retired" guys at the dock this morning who were complaining about fishing all day everyday and not seeing any fish. Makes me feel good that it doesnt get better after I leave. Saw 2 steelhead caught this morning. Thats all.

Thanks for the advise guys. I put in on the Willamette (about a mile from my front door) and took my 5 year old for a run up the Santiam. We only fished for three hours but he managed to catch his first native steelhead (about 12 pounds). I got a few pics of it in the water but it would have been too hard on the fish to beach the sled and set up a photo with him and the fish. He had a hard time getting the rod out of the holder with that steelie tugging on his plug but that was the only help he got. We wasn't even that upset when we let it go. Saw quite a few boats up the river for a weekday... Joe
