Fished the wilson river on saturday with a friend and we caught 5 steelhead 3 natives and 2 hatchery. We caught them all on spinners.

Good going fishon. There are more nates this season. I suggest that those using plugs and spinners/spoons to replace the stock treble hooks with a siwash hook, which is much easier to remove and less damaging to the fish. Also, I suggest putting away diver and bait rigs because the fish often swallow the bait deep and have a higher mortality rate with that setup. Driftfishing bait is mostly OK because the hook usually sticks in the corner of their mouths. - RT

Good advice RT. I saw a fish hooked deeply on Sunday and fortunately it was a hatchery fish. Had it been a native it would not have survived because of the profuse bleeding. North Coast guide Marty Peterson stops using bait diver very early the year because of the chance a deeply hooked native fish may not survive. Way to go Marty We need more guides like him.

Nice work fishon.
I also fished the Wilson all day Fri/Sat.
Hooked 7 landed 5. 2 nates/3hatchery.
The one hatchery was 10#Chrome Bright but spawned out.
Threw shrimp both days drift fishing. All hooks easily removed.
Saw Jennie and Big Stew.
