Default Family in Town...where to go for sturgeon?

I promised I'd take my dad and brother (whom I haven't seen in quite some time) out for gators this weekend, but from what it sounds like it's been SLOOOOOOOOOW! I'd prefer to stay out of the mainbody of the Columbia (15' boat). What's the best bet? Has anyone had luck with the freeze dried orange or purple prawns?

Try the cliffs by the oregon city bridge. downriver around kelly point is always a good bet. Saw two keepers at 43 and 58 inches taken last saturday in a short period of time. If you launch at cathedral park under the st. johns bridge the trip isn't too far. If you go just around the corner and up river the water is pretty calm off kelly point park. Line up with the big green bush on the washington side and the white swim at no risk sign on the oregon side and you should be looking right out the back of the boat in line with the willamette river marker. Pilings lead out to it. This is a favorite of mine. calm water, out of shipping traffic. Pulled several keepers from this spot this last year. Fresh smelt is the prefered bait. Have had success with sand shrimp here also. Never had any luck with the prawns. But thats me.

Good luck, hope you can show them a keeper.
I may be out there saturday morning myself.

Anyone doing any good in the channel...money hole, birdhouse hole?
