Do ya think that worked FM? Maybe there will be less competition now. ... just kidding; I think I have noticed early growing moss in a few steelhead streams this early spring. It's due to the excess sunshine and lower flows of course. I hope it doesn't cause too much of a problem up rivers such as the Sandy and Clackamas. I hate back bouncing up big green gobs of 'cooked spinach' all over my eggs or shrimp or Warts. This usually doesn't occur until into June, but it will become problematic in many places early this year. And the low flows could dampen the Columbia bite of all the excess springers on their way. Ironic huh?! - RT

Default Mouth of the Sandy

Hey...I was wondering if anybody here knows why the mouth of the Sandy shut down dramatically for the last 2 years, for Salmon and Steelhead in July, August and September. I had that place "dialed"!! Some of you folks that fished there may know my boat as the "Wet Dream", since painted and re-named. Algae was a major problem there...you'd be outta business fishing within a minute of dropping your gear down. Anybody know what's up with that?? Is it the algae that's killing it??? Clue me in here, wouldya??

Rumor had it that the new Water Treatment facility Troutale opened two years ago is the culprit. I E-Mailed Bill Monroe to see if he could get his Posse to check it out...but nothing happened. I was bummed, but I ended up finding a better spot for Upriver Brights. "Say-Lah-Vee" to the mouth of the Sandy for me in the summer months!!
