Default Avet Reels

Just a question, would you (salty dogs) be willing to support a local Newport tackle shop who would stock a decent supply of Avet reels?

Silly question I know, but if a local shop, and I say local meaning located in Newport Oregon but within range of the CR guys, and SO guys, and CO guys, would put in four or five sizes of Avet reels, could we support him?

I know Englunds is an Avet distributor but have any of you tried to hold one in Newport? Does anyone in Newport, Southern Oregon, or even Astoria know the Avet story? I for one am tired of making long distance calls to talk to someone in California about a reel that we could buy here.

This would mean distancing yourselves from the Hunnington Beach connection somewhat. It doesn't mean you would not still be able to talk to Matt or Mark, heck they have such a great shop I would still purchase from down south, they are truely awesome. But when it comes to Avet reels, could we make it worth a local shops while to support them if they had a competitive price?

I was thinking about sizes starting in the MX, JX, LX, and EX and EXPro lines. Reels for Halibut and tuna. Wouldn't it be nice to go to a local shop that speeks fishing and handle these reels in person?

Post your replys, and I will pass the info on but I for one would like to have a shop that carries a consistant supply of Avet reels. Maybe if this were to work we could talk them into putting in some other lines (Accurate, Newell, Proline) besides Penn which has gotten so competiteve that a smaller shop can't make any money on them.

When it comes time for me to be at the coast fishing - I've already spent my tackle money for the most part - so purchasing capital items really isn't practical for me. So if someone was to carry Avet Reels, I'd want them located near where I shop and if it costs me a couple gallons of gas more than likely I'd just order it especially with Char*bait's free shipping

I think you would get stuck with some very expensive inventory and very little demand IMHO. Nice concept, wrong location.

Mark and crew offer some very nice options, like Ted said free shipping, 10% discount with a Captains Card, free mono or spectra($10-$20 for 300-500yds) spooling with free mono topshots and a free reel skin(cover).

Kind of hard to beat some of those options and their customer service.

I may purchase one local, if some of those options are available.

I agree it would be nice to be able to have a hands on when buying such an expensive piece of equipment but like others have said
we go to the coast to fish not to buy gear
There is rarely time to go shopping

Having said that though
If I were looking to buy one I would find time to go to a local or coastal retailer and would likely buy from them
and I will be wanting an Avet or 2 or 4 this summer

I would agree with what has been said by others.
In addition to the above if I could buy closer to home then Cal. I would favor that. But, the extras are hard to beat.
I will be buying several of these little jewels this year also.
I think a couple Pro 30s and a couple MXL's.
If you could compete with pricing, spooling and shipping I would
keep my money in Oregon.

The location they are needed is the Portland metro area. For the reasons listed above. I will buy some ice or a burger and maybe some bait at the coast but not major gear purchases

Ordells is no longer listed as a dealer. I have heard of someone trying to become a Avet dealer in the PDX area though.
