Default Willamette Steelhead

Took my 9 year old boy and a buddy of mine springer fishing on Saturday up at O.C. About noon my kid's rod went down. He ended up reeling in a chrome bright 8 lb hatchery summer steelhead. We were back trolling Jumbo Jets and Shrimp. Didn't see any springers caught. We talked to the fish checker and he said there were three springers all day. We saw a couple steelhead landed at Meldrums and Dahl Beach.

Great work Tanner! I wish I could take you and your boy fishin'...When will it rain???!!!

I escorted a couple guys down the ever-lowering, ever-clearing (hmmm...everclear?) Wilson River on Saturday. It was for the Northwest Steelheaders Annual "Fish-a-long" (What a GREAT GROUP of people!). I managed to get a down streamer on a pink worm. Some others had better success, I'll let them tell if they want. I believe 6 fish were put into the acclimation pond on Saturday, very good despite the low clear water.

B.O.E.
For most people I charge guide rates(250.00 per day). But I'd only charge you $249.99.
Of course you would need to supply the food for him, That would be about another $50.00 (The kid can eat)

Marty,
Glad to hear that 6 fish made it in the acclimation pond. What is the word on getting that program started on the Nestucca? Are the locals still a major roadblock? Keep us posted. Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting some rain so I can show you how to catch steelhead.
Actually, if I add up all the native silvers and hatchery and native steelhead we have gotten into from the week before Thanksgiving to now, I have been totally outfished by my 9 year old kid! He loves rubbing it in. We have only had one no fish day since then, so he has caught a lot of fish. We had one day on the Willamette right around Thaksgiveing where we had 7 fish to the boat and only one of them was on my rod.
