Duck Stamps
I went to GI Joes to get a non-resident hunting license for my brother. I had his ID number so everything went great until I told him I needed a Federal Duck Stamp. He said fine, but I had to sign it. I asked him why? I also said the owner of the stamp would validate it. He said for him to sell it to me it had to be signed before it left the store. I said what if I was a collector that wanted an unsigned stamp. I told him that they are much more valuable to a collector that way. He said he was told that the stamp had to be defaced before it left the store. Long story short, is I convinced him that they did not need to be defaced before they left the store!
Question: How would one get an unsigned stamp if that was the case or was the kid full of BS?

BS
Stamp only needs to be signed when hunting. Don't think you could have killed much in the store or the parking lot.... while, maybe a few gulls.

Re: Duck Stamps
The stamp is just like any other postage stamp anyone can buy it regardless if they plan to hunt or not, last time i was at the post office i saw a guy buy a whole uncut sheet of federal stamps for his collection he didnt sign any of them

Re: Duck Stamps
I always go to the Post Office. They generally start selling them around the end of August, and seem to know a little more about stamps.

Re: Duck Stamps
I get mine at the post office, but the last summer I went there and the guy tried to sell me a 2005-6 stamp. I looked at it since it looked very familar and told the guy that the stamp wouldn't be good for the coming season since it expired on July, 2006! Needless to say I went elsewhere to get my stamp since he said that was all they had.

Re: Duck Stamps
I've bought my fed stamp at joes for the past few years and have never had to sign before I left. I'm not even sure if you have to sign it before you hunt but it does say on the piece of the paper the stamp comes on if you sign across the face you get free admission to wildlife refuges.

Re: Duck Stamps
My wife is a Postal Clerk and she says "No...they don't have to be signed to leave."
I trust her.....
